I'm off to hang out at the Well. It's pricey, but seems like a good community with a lot of options for discussion.

I think I'm kind of a fish out of water here at DU. I just can't raise up the right quotient of hate for the Republicans and can't keep out of the religious wars in GD. There's a lot of wasted breath on intolerance and a lot of it is mine! Not good for the blood pressure!

You guys here in the lounge have been a breath of fresh and funny air for me and I wish you well.

Being a member of DU been such a learning experience and I am glad for my time spent here.

I'll stay on a few days in case anyone wants to private email.

26. I once went to "The Well" but that was a long time ago.

There are so many sites and places to go on the web that it seems very complicated.

This place is good for me. I've had a lot of laughs and can remain apolitical in the DU Lounge. I rarely get annoyed with posts and find they are helpful in putting together my little web radio show.

Sorry you're leaving, but have a good life! Maybe you'll come back when the political scene heats up in 2006.

I've been a member of all sorts of online groups and hate the "I'm going home with all my toys" posts. This isn't one of them. I will be back now and then when I need a heavy dose of Democrat, and certainly anytime the BushCo goes down I'll be back for high fives all around.

But I only have a limited amount of time to put in my online habit and I've noticed that recently the posts are really so political that I don't have much to offer..that is not a criticism, this is after all, a political site! I have learned so much here but I'm ready for a wider set of topics...like books, education, tech stuff..things that DU doesn't include. My problem is that when I throw myself into a site I go whole hog (as my post count proves!) and I need a wider forum, especially for my avocation which right now is writing. I need lots of viewpoints, lots of stories.

I hope the Well is worth $15 a month!

really noticed you this last week. I disagree with your assessment though. There are Democrats and liberals of many stripes here. I am a moderate, basically. Yes, there are some here who are very angry and post it. We all go there sometimes.


There are groups here that cover the topics you have listed in your response to CG...Tech groups, reading, writing, religions. You need to be a donating member to access them. If you stay, I would make that donation for you. I'd love to in fact, because I really enjoyed reading your posts in the Rosa Parks Threads. Please reconsider, I think you've let a few squeaky wheels make your decision.

I really have no problem with the "intolerance" I find, because I think that's kind of my lot in life, to smooth that out where I find it. I'm a teacher. And I really have a strong impression that most of the intolerance is among the younger crowd, so I feel right at home trying to be oil on the water. (which is probably very annoying to said younger crowd.)

I think I am also looking for a community where I can actually get to know some folks and DU is so huge. HUGH!!11

But that loonie bin is not DU, it is the entire human race... The "religious wars" of GD are nothing compared to the religious wars of the real world, are they?

I haven't noticed it is possible to be a "fish out of water" on DU -- it is always a matter of self-exclusion, even for those who get themselves tombstoned.

It is no coincidence that the the very first post I had deleted on DU was in one of those GD religious flamefests... because religion is a subject I'm very passionate about.

No, not good at all. But I've found DU to be a fantastic place for learning how to control my blood pressure.

I can't believe I didn't know there was more to DU than GD and the Lounge. I will make a donation tomorrow and get the coveted yellow star. I only signed up at the Well for one month but I'll hang there and let you know how it goes. It is supposed to be progressive but have a smattering of intelligent conversatives you can debate with. I do miss that.

I am very moved that there are some of you who know who I am. It makes it easier to stay for certain.

Now I feel dumb, like I wrote one of those "prove to me that you love me" posts. Yeeesh.

I enjoy your responses to threads. You always seem very even-keel and we need people like that here, just like we need the ones who can really rant and fume.

From what I've seen, even when you disagree with somebody, your response is never to attack that person, just state your case and let it be.
