How the hell do dumbfucks stay employed while the talented get kicked out?
I'm so tired at my employer right now that I'm about to walk out the door, damn my expenses and debt. The undiscovered country seems vastly preferable right now and their pigeonholing of me (never mind the doublespeak and contradictory statements)...

Meanwhile I see other folks, not qualified for their jobs, get them... they in turn hire consultant after consultant and then complain to everybody (but the supervisors) about the consultants knowing faaaaaaaaaaaar more than they do!

Or watching others who should have been fired get all sorts of free training while others, who are better employees, get nothing?

they might also have penises, in which case a blowjob ought to work 100% of the time!

4. Employers like dumbfucks
It makes them feel superior and justifies them not paying people enough to live on. Particularly when you're working for a large corporation where everyone is a number anyway. They expect and want their employees to be mindless drones.

I go through the same shit at my job. My company does things that say clearly that they don't trust my judgment or intelligence and all it does is frustrate me. At the same time, they continue to chip away at my union contract so that eventually, they'll be able to either force me out or aggravate me so badly, I'll quit, whereupon they'll replace me with some moran they can pay 5 dollars an hour less.

incompetent and/or insecure the employers are, the moreso this is true.

I also second what maveric said in posting #2.

If you're working for somebody, especially if you're second in command, to somebody who's insecure about their job and is incompetent and feels threatened by you, even if you don't want their effing job, watch out--you're walking across a minefield.

11. 'The Peter Principle
is a theory originated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter. It states that successful members of a hierarchical organization are eventually promoted to their highest level of competence, after which further promotion raises them to a level just beyond their highest level of competence. The term is a pun on Sigmund Freud's theory of the pleasure principle."

10. I seriously feel your pain.
It has been like that at every job I have ever had. It's like there is a dumb fuck standard that employers have. :wtf:
I have come to believe that they must get money from the government for everyone that they hire. Is there a secret dumb fuck ratio or formula that they use to determine just the right balance? Maybe, I don't know. Perhaps someone could enlighten us on this matter.

16. My SO works for a huge corporation.
The managers are mostly asshole no-nothings who have kissed major butt to get where they are. Question their competency and get shown the door. It doesn't matter how much you know or how good of a job you do. Refuse to be a kiss ass and you'll go nowhere.

Dedicated, competent staff get shat upon while imbeciles who don't give a damn about their work get treated like kings and queens. I've given up hoping things are going to change, and am just wating for the day I can get out.

21. Martin Mull's high school analogy seems like it should fit:
He said "Hollywood was just high school with money."

The older I get the more I see how that idea can be applied to pretty much anything and still be right. Work is just high school with cheap suits. (Or fill in your own work is just high school with _____. I just woke up and my brain hurts.)

23. Talent is threatening to lazy ass managers.
It's important to some administrators to always have someone to blame. They don't care about succeeding or the business or the employees, they just want to not be in trouble.

Thus, it's taxing to have competent people around, because they expect to actually do work. Instead, they can spend their time handling problems that they created by enabling lazy or incompetent coworkers.

35. Maybe I didn't make myself clear.

Sounds like your job sucks. Boy, have I been there--and more than once.

Try to get involved in some hobbies, activities, clubs, volunteer work, etc. that you enjoy and get your fulfillment from those activities.

29. Because they know how to play the game.
Its all about socialization, ass kissing, making people want to be your friend. Some do this from a natural auro of likeability they have. Take promotions.... I know a brilliant woman, one of the best in an area of hundreds.. but she isn't attractive. It took her 25 years to get to her current level. I know another woman, she is 30, EXTREMELY attractive... she made it to the same spot.. in 8 years. Does she have qualifications?... no but she is good looking, flirts with upper management and has friends with power. Her mistakes are covered up. Examples of men run about the same, tall good looking etc etc.

I've pretty much been told to my face that I'm not playing the game correctly. As an example this past year I was told "Newport, your an excellent worker, you produce flawless project results.. but that isn't enough.. we need MORE from you." "You need more visibility we need more".

So I'm denied promotion essentially because I'm not a game player, I come in do my job and go home to my family. Instead I need to join comittees about xyz subject, become involved in different work sponsered clubs etc. In other words kiss ass and rub elbows.

But I can't bring myself to do it... isn't joining a club even if its a good cause wrong if your doing it for personal gain... I don't know..
