Has anyone here written an autobiography?
Were you published?

What made you write it? Was it a life-altering event or something else?

1. I'm still working on mine.
It's not so much autobiography as narrative non-fic and I'm the narrator. It hasn't been published but I've had offers for the rights. I declined thus far as I'm not sure that I want it in public circulation if I ever finish it. It's too personal and painful.

It's about the personal changes effected upon me and friends manifest over the course of a year and the effects of those effects upon each other and our "community" resultant of a group-trauma.

8. funny that this thread is at the top again
I was just looking through my notebook of quotes which also includes my journal of the last 14 years. It is something that I write in every couple of months. As I was reading through it a little bit, it suddenly struck me how long it was - like it's a frigging book. So I guess I have written one, but it is not that big of a book, maybe fifty pages. I also have a daily journal from my college days, some seven or eight years before the other one.

9. I suppose I could
It would put the sleep-aid companies out of business, and I would be rich, rich, rich!

11. writing pieces of one,

certainly not published, i'd have to finish it first and I doubt many people would be interested.

What made me start writing it?

My sons are old enough now to know some (many) of the things that happened when I was younger than they are now. I want them to be able to know me before I was 'dad'.

Mostly just stories, anecdotes of events in my early life that I want them to know about. My dad had a million stories and only ever wrote a few down, I'd like my sons to actually be able to go back and look at mine.
