Question about the movie 'Die Hard with a Vengeance'...?

Question about the movie 'Die Hard with a Vengeance'...?
I saw Die Hard with a Vengeance last night on FX, and I think I missed something (I was doing other stuff while I was watching the movie)... about 2/3 or 3/4 of the way throught the movie, when Bruce Willis is at the Federal Reserve and is going down the elevator with the "cops" or "police," he ends up shooting and killing them all. How did he know they were really the bad guys?

1. One of the guys didn't understand some bit of common coloquial english
so he knew they weren't american.

2. If I remember right
(and its been a while since I've seen it) one of the "cops" in the elevator was wearing the uniform of a cop he killed. The cop was a friend of Willis' character, and Willis knew this person's badge number. He saw the badge number, and knew these guys were bad guys.

4. As it's aired on tv (even FX has to bleep out things), they may have
chopped out a crucual scene because it was too nasty.

I hate it when that happens.
