Leaves are dropping by the gazillions into my yard as I type.
Edited on Tue Nov-01-05 01:50 PM by Scout1071
And I am already dreading the back breaking work of raking them up. I have a little teeny-tiny yard and last year I still had to bag 11 full lawn & leaf bags. Not to mention the fact I could barely move for days afterward because I was so sore.

Any suggestions on how to improve this back breaking process this year? Don't know that I can take it, but it must be done.

Here is a pic of the aforementioned teeny yard:

And yes....that is a tiki bar.

Edited to snazzy up the title.

1. That's very much like my place
in terms of size and trees. I've got a small lot but lots of trees and leaves. Lots and lots of leaves......groan.....

2. The tree pictured on the left side of that pic is the primary offender.
I love it for most of the year - until she lets go of what seems like millions of leaves.

I have "yard maintenance" provided, but the bah-stads just come in with their leaf blowers and blow all the leaves into the corners - where they compact and get gross if I don't rake them all up.

13. If I'm lucky I can rake all of 'em to the front yard and wait for a windy
day to come along and blow them down the street. :eyes:

17. No such luck. No front yard whatsoever. Which I guess is a blessing
when it comes to having to rake.

19. Yeah at least you won't have neighbors leaves blowing
in your yard. I've got a blower and it's still quite a job to get 'em all done.

3. Come on DU'ers! Any tips for getting those pesky leaves out of
my yard? I may try to find some ambitious kids this year. $5 per bag? What is the going kid-raking rate these days anyway?

4. GORGEOUS house! I just mow most of our leaves,
but I have a mulching mower and I compost any excess mulch-- maybe that's not an option for you. Can you pay a neighborhood kid to do it? They'll do it here for around five bucks.

9. Thank you! But, believe it or not, it's actually an apartment.
I only lay claim to level one. My friend and neighbor lives in the one above me.

It's the extremely rare apartment with an actual backyard....which is why my dog and I love it.

Funny thing is that I posted a pic of my yard once before and another DU'er (who's name escapes me at the moment) correctly identified my apartment complex and city, as he once lived here too. Kind of scary!

12. Come on, at least you can jump on some kind of riding, mulching
mower, right?

But, you are correct. I probably shouldn't be whining about raking such a small yard. It's just that there are two massive, old trees that dump it by the foot. And quite frankly, I just feel like complaining about it.

the Aspens have already turned (and fallen). They turned in clusters.
Now, back to work, and life.
