Corny, campy, and in no way taking itself seriously. This movie features an alien doing a continuous Jack Nicholson impersonation. Whats not to like.

19. Nope--
you're not the only one. I also LOVED Purple Rain. It may have not been 'as bad' had they not edited the crap out of it. There are a few big hunks missing from that film.

I've read the script(found it on-line), and recall scenes shown in the trailer, that didn't make it into the final film.

:(

I was 4 when it first came out and I honestly remember going to the movies and seeing it with my mom . The " Purple Rain " album was blasted 24-7 , just thinking about it brings back so many good memories of that time :)

The best part of the movie is its realism. Big corporate bookstore swallows little local specialty bookstore. Woman loses job. White man laughs at her. She falls in love with him. Brilliant.

I was about 10 or maybe 11. Had always been into fantasy stuff.

I fell in love with that movie HARD!!!

I don't remember what time of year it came out, but it was at the budget theatre all summer. $.50 admission for a matinee. I must have seen it 20 times.

I realize now that it was pretty lame, but it still brings back happy memories to watch it.

61. Teen Wolf Too
Edited on Tue Oct-25-05 09:48 AM by jane_pippin
Starring one Jason Bateman, by the way. If you haven't seen it or it's been decades since, do yourself a favor and pick up this charming yet forgotten gem. Rent the first one too so you can watch them back to back and get the full effect of Teen Wolf Too's terrible glory. There's a frog fight, a dance sequence or two, plenty of memorable lines ("All I want to do is study hard and be a veterinarian!"), and a little life lesson too.

AND the best worst movie ever, "Can't Stop the Music," the story of the Village People starring Steve Guttenberg and featuring an absolutely moving rendition of "Danny Boy" by Leather man--a stripped down moment in a movie chock full of elaborate and befuddling song and dance numbers.

I also have a few Lifetime movies I never miss:
"Fifteen and Pregnant"--starring Kirsten Dunst
"Woman on the Run: The Lawrencia Bembenak (sp?) Story"--Ah, the sordid story of a local girl in Lifetime Movie form. How could I resist?
"Her Final Fury: The Betty Broderick Story"--Meredith Baxter goes bat shit crazy. It also has a part one that's about 3 hours long but I forget the name.

*sigh* I love terrible movies. They make me laugh like nothing else.

and recently I've become quite attatched to 'Slumber Party Massacre'. One I'm crying out to get on DVD that I used to obsess over is 'The Garbage Pail Kids Movie'.

btw, 'Wayne's World' 1 & 2 are magnificent films. 'Austin Powers: Goldmember' is, however, one that Myers should have best left unmade.

105. Megaforce!!!
Before he was the Mayor, Barry Bostwick led an elite, motorcycle-driving, gold-lamé jumpsuit-wearing post-apocalyptic fighting force whose motto was "DEEDS NOT WORDS".

Not to mention the catchy theme song by 707, and you had a classic on your hands.

Okay, so I like the banter.
Sue me.

(I'm currently into 30's-40's screwball comedies, like anything with Carole Lombard, Myrna Loy, Jean Arthur, Katharine Hepburn -- like Bringing Up Baby and others-- oh, and my fav, Rosalind Russel, for example in His Girl Friday... terrific banter!)

125. DC 9/11 (the Bush propaganda movie)
The plot and dialogue are so mind-numbingly bad! If the best dramatic moment they could come up with was Bush using his teeth to uncap a Sharpie marker -- even I could have suggested better ways to make Dubya look brave and competent. Considering all the advantages they had (access to the President and his top advisors, approval of the administration), they really blew this.

The commentary on the DVD is actually kind of funny (Timothy Bottoms, who played Bush, musing about what might have caused a painful rash he had during the filming). If not for the nauseating torrent of self-promotion by the producer, I would have actually made it all the way through to the end.
