What is the Zig-zag rolling paper man
wearing on his head? It looks like some funky long beret.

Any suggestions on how to replicate this for a Halloween costume?

thanks,
JD

1. It's more like a funky fez
The Zig Zag man is a French Zouave soldier from the Crimean War. What the logo doesn't show is the long tassel at the end of the cap.

2. Thanks
Though I don't know if I can pull off "zouave" in six days!

4. But knowing "zouave"
you could look on the internet or even go to the library for a historical military uniform book, and get a good idea of what it really looks like. It's essentially a long sack with a tassel. Know those knitted things that people with long dreads often wear? Maybe you could find a solid-colored one and put a tassel on it. Just a thought.

3. Wow
That's some of the most obscure trivia I've ever encountered.

6. I did know what a zouave was, strangely enough
And I had a fairly good idea of how they dressed. I guess I just always thought Mr. Z-Z was more of a left bank, bohemian artist type. Never made the connection from the line drawings on the packaging.

7. Two great tastes
That taste great together. Jasco paint thinner is a great high for a ten year old. Strangely enough, isn't it a zouave that the 40-year-old virgin keeps repainting in the recent film of that title?
