2. I voted "off" because of clutter, but

the slow download unless I'm somewhere with ultra-fast connections is maddening and is the main reason.

3. I have images off

not signatures. I don't care to be spammed with pictures, when i'm
reading text. It saves on the bandwidth as well, making the whole
thing faster. As well, i don't buy the branding of the avatar.
YOu speak your mind free from history, free from the expectations
of any icon or mythical influence. And without all that differentiation,
twisting in the wind; the naked bodies underneath all burp and fart.

Like that on DU, the naked writers misspell, make grammar errors and
leak out unconscious influences between the letters of their words,
but not on the brand-name they're trying to build.

7. Off, I don't mind a line of text but some of the sigs are ridiculous

Big advertising banners for people's pet causes, gif-animations and big pictures just clutter up the pages.

8. They help me remember folks on the board more than people names do.

This helps me scan down a long thread and stop on certain members with whom I like to read their posts. When we have to turn off this function I'm lost on which member said what.
