Poll question: What's an appropriate indoor temperature?
Edited on Thu Oct-20-05 12:18 AM by XemaSab
It's Redding, it's October, it's nighttime, but the AC is CRANKED WAY UP.

How cold should it be in here?

What's a good indoor temperature???

On edit: it's 62 outside, FYI.

1. Upper 60s
Warm enough that you're not freezing, yet cool enough to snuggle under blankets.

6. Possibly...
the computer in in the living room, the blankets are in the bedroom. :(

You take the sf/fantasy poll? There are 3 HP characters, but you have to work hard to be picked as one of them... :(

Never stopped me :D

No, I didn't take the poll yet. I'll have to do that now.

9. The real impediment is that the living room is full of
dog hair. :(

The dog sheds a lot. :(

10. Ah, you see in my case...
... it was cat hair. And all the blankets already had cat hair all over them anyways.

I just took the quiz... it said I was Princess Leia. I'll have to retake it and see what HP characters are in it. :)

13. Just try taking it again when you're in a different mood.
At least, that's what I do if I don't like results

On a completly unrelated (okay, not completely, but my thought process is weird...) note, it's that time of the year where my birthday approaches. My boyfriend keeps asking me if there's anything in particular I want, but I honestly have no idea. Why is it that at every other time of the year there are so many things I want, but as soon as October nears its end I can't think of a single thing. -_-

15. Right now I want a Hogwarts outfit
for Halloween and for the movie premiere.

I need a tie and a robe, and I need to put the damn ice cream back in the damn freezer if I want to fit into my skirt. :(

Hmmmm.... maybe just a nice dinner date?

It's hard when you don't really want or need THINGS.

Right now in addition to a Slytherin tie I'd like plants for the garden, paint for the house, and a DVD player. And a tiller for the garden.

And a job. :(

16. Now I miss my sewing machine...
... I have several costumes to finish and little time at home to do it.

That's what I need most right now... time. And sleep.

And a job as well X_X

Oh, did you see the theatrical trailer for the 4th movie yet?

17. Saw a trailer online...
...not in the theater.

Looks like it's going to be OFF THE HOOK!

I'm still irritated about some of the casting, and there are things that will be left out that are critical to the plot, like SPEW, but it looks like it's going to be a visual treat.

What do you think?

18. Yeah, I watched it on my computer too
No time for movies at the moment. Being my usual strange self, it seemed to be the little things that seemed "wrong," like how Dumbledore yells the names. But, to tell you the truth, it doesn't matter what I think it'll be like, I'd go see it anyways.

I'd better head off to bed so that I don't pass out durring lab tomorrow. But before I go, I must ask... Have you ever seen Potterpuffs? http://www.livejournal.com/users/potterpuffs/

20. Nope, Zoology
I'd probably enjoy Potions, though. I used to make my own concoctions out of various things in the bathroom (baby oil, shampoo, lotion, etc) when I was little.

Yes, I was a straaaange child...

3. I like it 74 in summer and 68 in winter
But most of the women I've known like 70 in summer and 80 in winter. Women are forever asking me, (as they rub their arms) "Are you cold?" when in fact I'm feeling a little warm.

14. good grief, no wonder we have power shortages
74 in the summer is absurdly cool, unless you are working. My target is 80 in the summer and 70 in the winter, but it feels colder since my house is so drafty. Since I am alone, I turn the thermostat down and sit next to a space heater and a lit candle.

How do you sleep. The humidity knocks it up to 90, and it's sweat, sweat, sweat. I can do 66 or 65 in the winter, but have to have 74 in the summer.

25. half of the time, 80 is an impossible dream
my little window AC cannot keep up. However, since it is in the bedroom and the thermometer is in the living room, it is much cooler in the bedroom besides having a box fan in front of the AC.

31. There was another..
... thread about electric bills - I noted that I keep the A/C at 81 in the daytime and 78 at night.

Yes, that is a little warmer than optimum comfort, but I think a lot of folks are going to get used to it pretty soon when the cost of electricity doubles.

If you use fans and dress appropriately, it's really not bad. Your body gets used to it. I work outside a lot and frankly, I hate coming in from 95 degree heat into a 70 degree room.

24. Depends on the season.
During the 8 months of summer, my a/c is set at 79. During the 1 month of winter, the heat is set at 68. The rest of the time, it's somewhere in between, neither hot enough to turn on the a/c or cold enough to fire up the heater.

but I'm not sure how much.

We don't have air-conditioning (Seattle, you know).

28. I've no idea
in my house the heat is set to 64 the AC set to 80. Since it's all gas, and I hate paying the utility company, I try to minimize the heating/cooling impact and adapt the amount of clothing I wear to the current temps.

30. Depends on the time of day...
THERMOSTAT SETTINGS FOR THE PIMP PALACE
South Hill, Ithaca, NY
All temperatures in degrees Fahrenheit

7 AM - heat up to 60
2:30 PM - heat up to 62
11 PM - thermostat set to 54, Pimp Palace cools overnight

We're trying to save on our utility bills.

34. 68 for the a/c, 60-62 for the heat
I'm a 40 year old woman, I can't deal with heat. I keep the heat at about 62, probably at 60 this year, to save money.

I haven't even turned my furnace on yet this fall. It's been pretty warm.

I might go a little higher on the a/c end of things, but we won't have it next summer, so... we'll see :) I'm with ya on not having turned the furnace on yet. It's going to be mid-30s tonight, though, so we'll see. Lots of blankets...

36. Try living in a large house in florida
You can't economically keep your house below 78 in summer (all 8 months of it), and often it's up over 80 in some rooms. You learn to keep a fan on yourself.

As for cold temps, as long as it's not below 50 inside it's all good.
