Anybody seen a celebrity incognito?
I once saw David Bowie in a business suit. We made eye contact, but I wasn't sure it was him till it was too late. It was his sideburns that gave him away.

1. It's funny about *some* celebs though that they could walk right past you
on the street and wouldn't notice them.

6. I accidentally rolled my eyes at Cindy Lauper once...
Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 03:04 PM by jane_pippin
She was walking down the sidewalk and we were about to pass each other and all I saw was an older-ish lady with pink hair and a goofy outfit. I was in my "I hate everyone in this shit-town" stage so when I saw her I automatically rolled my eyes and thought "oh god, get over yourself already."

Then she got closer and I realized who she was and I felt really bad about it. Moral 1: Wear your glasses Moral 2: Don't roll your eyes at people unless you know for a fact they have it coming.

14. James Garner
During the height of his career.
At LAX baggage claim.
I got a glimpse of him exiting a limo just as he donned big black sunglasses.
Poof. It wasn't him anymore.

He walked straight towards me.
I was an airline pilot, in uniform. Just landed and waiting for the hotel van.

"Hi. My folks are on the Chicago flight.Do you know if it's in yet?"
There were hundreds of people milling around and I was the only one who knew who this guy was.
"Yessir, as a matter of fact I brought it in. We landed 20 minutes ago."
"Well, thanks for gettin' mom and dad here safely. They aughta be down in a few minutes. I'd appreciate it if you didn't blow my cover."
"My pleasure. Your secret is safe with me. <grin>"
"Thanks."

He's a real gent.

17. I work with celebs, but...
... the only one I've seen outside of my work environment, being incognito, was Tom Waits. He was shopping for books at the Chapters store in Downtown Vancouver with a blonde woman. The first odd thing I noticed was he had a shopping basket FULL of books.

I didn't even realise it was Tom Waits at first; I thought it was just some rummy. It was my ex who recognised him.

18. Megan Mullally (Karen from Will & Grace) at a play
at the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago. She was sitting with her husband near me in the audience. She had her hair in pigtails, was wearing thick glasses and a super-dorky suburban mom kind of sweatshirt (I think it may have even had puff paint on it). Unfortunately, her husband (also an actor, but I don't know his name) was sitting next to her wearing a very stylish outfit and expensive watch so he kinda blew her cover.
