Hate to burst the bubble, but either the account is taking liberties with what happened, or...

Actually there is no "or". There is no way this fella had the major arteries of the neck severed and lived. This is why "slit throat" is synonymous with death.

Additionally, if his head "fell to one side" as the article says, is means his cervical vertebrae were catastrophically broken. Again, he wouldn't be driving himself to the hospital.

Maybe the guy got hurt badly and bravely pushed on to the hospital, but not with his head barely attached.

Please.
