Poll question: In all seriousness, should I start exercising?
I'm due to lose my job soon.

My health is in decline (hypoglycemia, near-diabetic)

I have no job prospects thanks to offshoring and Asperger's.

I've too little debt to really go bankrupt with yet too much debt to get out of in the time I have left.

1. Toad, sometimes exercise is its own reward
pick something you enjoy and go with it. I find paddling on lakes to be very meditative and calming--it also reduces the gut and increases upper body strength which is an added benefit.

I wouldn't reccommend getting into whitewater unless that was something you've been wanting to do on your own though. I've seen that "oh god, I hate this can it end soon" look of sheer dread on the faces of enough new paddlers to know whitwater ain't for everybody.

Walking or biking are also good ways to start. And with exercises like those I've never heard of them making a health condition WORSE. (except for maybe some joint/skeletal thing, but even then.....

2. I am in the same boat and i exercise
I have young onset parkinson's and nothing beats the blues than watching two girls stretch. :D Seriously even a moderate amount would help your diabetes. Think how i feel i am a 37 year old man force to move in with his parents because no one will hire me cause this dang disease is so unpredictable.

3. i bet it won't hurt to give it a try.
I bought a treadmill 4 months ago just a week shy of my 38th birthday, i was and still am determined to get in shape, so far i've lost 45 pounds and i actually sleep through the night. My health problems weren't what yours are but my doctor told me that if i didn't do something soon i would end up a diabetic, it runs in my family on both sides. I went to the doctors about 3 weeks ago for a follow up and he was amazed at how much my numbers have improved.

Start with something low impact that actually like, you might try yoga or maybe just walking for 30 mintues a day.
