How would you vote?
Edited on Sat Oct-15-05 11:08 PM by Dangerously Amused
It's a presidential election. Your choices are a generally honest Republican, or a generally dishonest Democrat.

How do you vote? Why?

ON EDIT:

- OR -

Is it ever okay for the POTUS to lie to the American people? If so, when?

1. Your question does not compute.
Generally honest Republican? ;)

I'd vote for the Green Party candidate.

5. Okay...

I know, I know... but it's all hypothetical, people.

I just meant, IF there was a Republican you felt you could trust to be honest in most situations (I know, suspend your disbelief) running against a Democrat you weren't sure you could trust to be honest in most situations.

How would you vote?

opinion. :eyes:

4. Those aren't real-world choices.
There's no such thing as an honest politician.

6. Is this like that joke that starts
"Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, and a Smart Blonde are walking down the street..."?

8. Nope, no joke.

Just lobbing a hypothetical out there. Honestly, I don't know how I would answer. But I like to see how people smarter than me think.

13. Ok, I'll answer seriously
Anyone who still aligns themselves with the Republican party under the current administration will NEVER get my vote. In my opinion, anyone who supports them is either a) stupid, b) just as criminally evil as they are, or c) brainwashed. I don't want anyone who fits into any of those categories to represent me.

Would I prefer that the Democrat be honest? Of course. But I wouldn't hesitate to vote for him/her over ANY Republican.

9. A yellow dog. A damned yellow dog
as long as it was a registered Democrat.

Who in their right mind could even imagine an honest Republican at this point?

10. These days
I can still believe that there are dishonest Democrats--but honest Republicans.

Now that strains credibility.

If nothing else, given the state of things, if they were completely honest they would stop being Republicans.

11. This is one case where I just wouldn't vote. I could not vote...
for the Republican because I couldn't do anything to put our country's future into the hands of the Republican party. However, I also couldn't vote for the Democrat, because I would feel that I wasn't being true to myself.

(I'm assuming that these are the only two candidates. If there was a Green candidate, then I'd vote for the Green candidate.)

However, I don't see this happening anytime soon.

14. Well then, perhaps the question becomes...

Is it ever okay for the POTUS to lie to the American people? If so, when?

15. I personally believe that the POTUS deserves to have some personal...
privacy. I don't feel that we have the right to know every detail of the president's personal life as long as it doesn't interfere with his/her job as president. If he/she were to lie about something like this, I personally wouldn't blame him/her.

16. Depends on what the Democrat is saying.
If I knew he was lying and was saying things I wanted to hear, it'd be the same shit as what the repuke was saying.

So why waste my fuckin' life by voting for some jerkwad, in either case won't give a damn about working-class interests?

I'd rather whack off to an issue of "Playboy" (and trust me, I'd rather not...)
