I hate WordPerfect - help me so I can go home and have a Martini!!
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 09:50 PM by Rabrrrrrr
I've been in the office for 12 hours!

This is the most clunky, impossible to fucking work with word processing program I've dealt with since I had to suffer under Wordstar back in '85.

ARGH!!!!!!!

I am trying to do something that I also just did in Word, and in Word it took me about 2 minutes.

In WordPerfect, I've been going at it for an hour, and still have fucking nothing.

Here's the scoop - all I want to do is a very simple thing: edit the default fucking template. Just edit it! I just need to add one little field so that the filename is always automatically inserted as a footer in every document I create from now on. In Word, this is easy as shit - because I guess Microsoft figures that, hey, a person might want to edit the default template!

Apparently Corel figures no, that's fucking dumb.

So I've even tried some work arounds - such as making a new template that does what I want, and then renaming it with the name of the default template and putting it in the right directory.

I've done that, and it works fine: except for one fucking problem: EVERY GODDAMN TOOLBAR I NEED DISAPPEARS!

Jesus Fucking Christ on a crutch with a handbag, this should take two minutes.

Can any of you experts out there help me out?!

1. Oh, and p.s. - I've used the WordPerfect "help" feature a lot,
and even went to the website in their question and answer area.

Nada.

Not that I could find, anyway.

Fucking Corel assholes.

5. Corel makes crap
I had to suffer through CorelDRAW! back in the early days of desktop publishing. God, what a miserable piece of shit. I'll never buy or use a product from those stooges again.

12. i think in Wordperfect you can adjust that by editing the page
perhaps page properties, or page. . . something. it's not difficult in Wordperfect, you'll be surprised how easy it was to find, er . . . when you find it.

i seem to remember thatsetting in the page properties-esh area.

7. It's time to enforce your desires on the office environment
Start by telling them what a piece of shit program they're using, and how it's destroying your productivity. How you could get so much more done with the proper software. It's fun to make waves at work. I don't feel my week is complete until I've seen utter dismay on the faces of everyone around me.

10. Alas, I am the boss/owner guy
And I can't go into details of what the situation is...

but WordPerfect is necessary for reasons far out of my control.

I hated this goddamn program when it was in DOS. Worst piece of shit engineering of any software I had ever encountered. I never liked the damn thing, I never used it (except when I had to - was forced in one office to use the DOS-system because the computer they gave me couldn't handle Windows...:grr:), thought I had escaped it forever, and then, well, here I am...

And of course, WordPerfect didn't just install itself - no, it installed a bunch of other useless fucking computer crashing piece of shit Corel software like some unusable fucking "to do list" fucking thing and a bunch of other shit.

:grr: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :grr:

11. Neither of those helped directly - but they pointed me
in the right direction, inspiring me to finally find this one:

http://www.wpuniverse.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12507

Which helped me learn that in order to edit the default template, which is possible, I have to do some menu item gymnastics to find it under "custom templates".

What the fuck?!?!?!?!

"Default" is a "Custom template"???!!!

Son of a bitch. If Word for Windows would do one - and that is, make Word easy to use for making newsletter, having text on one line that some left justified, some centered, and some right justified (like a menu) - WordPerfect would finally go out of business.

I think those are the only reasons that people stick with WordPerfect.
