Buried, cremated or mulched?
Ashes to ashes, dust to mulch? In Sweden it will soon be possible to have your corpse freeze-dried, powdered and made into tree mulch, says the UK's Telegraph. "Swedes will ... have the chance to bury their dead according to the pioneering method, which involves freezing the body, dipping it in liquid nitrogen and gently vibrating it to shatter it into powder. This is put into a small box made of potato or corn starch and placed in a shallow grave, where it will disintegrate within six to 12 months. People are to be encouraged to plant a tree on the grave. It would feed off the compost formed from the body, to emphasize the organic cycle of life."

Good idea. Sometimes I think I'd be much happier as a tree.

1. I'll stick to burial! I don't really like to think about it though.
I am so claustrophobic that I want to be buried above ground! I know it is silly (and expensive), but

3. Mulching is a cool idea
I read about in Mary Roach's excellent book Stiff, the Curious Life of Cadavers (which tells you, always in a respectful way, about how they used cadavers to make crash test dummies and tons and tons of other interesting things)

5. I'm want to be
cremated after I die and I want my ashes to be scattered near a body of water with a scenic view. When someone comes to visit, they will see a beautiful view instead of a small plot of land with a headstone. And, if they can't make it to that spot, they can go to any pretty lake and visit me there.

8. Call me old fashioned, but I'm looking for an underground crypt.
I don't like the burial in a box idea, cremation creeps me out, and I can think of better things to do with my remains than mulch thankyouverymuch. I want to be placed in a tomb. Why? So that, in 5,000 years when some archaeologist breaks into it, they'll think that I must have been someone far more important than I actually am :)

15. Mulched sounds like a great idea.
Not as selfish as taking up space in the ground or in an urn. That's a very "back to nature" alternative.
