1. Well, after 4 years ...

I guess it's your turn. :-)

I seriously have no confidence at all in the Sooner tomorrow. Texas's talent is simply too high this year compared to ours. I can be a gracious loser. I think. Maybe. Tell ya tomorrow.

2. Yeah, it's been a long drought.
Mack needs this one somethin' awful. He's gonna end up like Darrel Royal if he keeps stressing out on this game.

I agree with your assessment, though. UT has too much talent to blow it. You guys have a frosh QB and an ailing Adrian. Next year might be a different story.

3. I know about those ...

I attended every OU-TX game during the Gibbs and Blake years and during the Schnelenwhatsitsname blip. (The latter was simply embarassing. That was the same year the Dallas Morning News ran a story about how it was hard to respect a team with a walrus for a coach and a paperclip for a logo.) Wasn't a lot for a Sooner fan to celebrate during those years.

I remember one loss we suffered, though, and I remember going to the West End afterward, still in my OU gear. I got some ribbing, of course, but overall I had never experienced fans of an opposing team be so gracious about winning. A group of Texas fans bought our dinner as consolation, saying something like "You guys deserve better than that idiot ..." He was referring Schnellenberger, whom I truly believe was just dumb. I've made it a point to give the same respect ever since.

As happy as I was, I did not gloat in 2000, and I'll give your team its props when they are due. You've had a damn fine team these last several years. As you imply, Brown himself seems to have some sort of mental block about the game and passes it on to his players. I *still* don't know why he didn't put in Applewhite a few years back.

So, good luck to you. You probably won't need it. :-)

I'm glad my fellow UT fans treated you so well.

I promise to be a good sport no matter who wins tomorrow. :)

9. They were great ...

We were staying in the same hotel, but had only exchanged menacing glares in the lobby before this, and somehow ended up in the same restaurant afterward. We thought they were kidding (or insanely drunk) at first, but they paid the whole bill, drinks and all. We hung out all night.

I really wanted to find them back in 2000, but of course there was no way to do so.

Anyways ... I sometimes get too melodramatic about this game. I'm one of those people who wouldn't miss watching it no matter who wins.

24. Good story.
Likewise, I have plenty of A&M and OU alumni that I know that are always willing to give or take a friendly ribbing surrounding these games.

10. Need to go to the mall
tomorrow. Want to be back for kick off. 'Course Tech is playing Nebraska tomorrow, don't know what time. We beat them 10,000 to 2 last year (not quite, but felt like it).

I'm a Tech alumni - went there as an undergrad. Did UT for grad school. I think Tech scored seomthing like 70 against Nebraska last year. *hehehehehehe*

23. Tech looks ok, but you'll get a real test today.
Big Red is better than last year. Tech struggled against Kansas, so they better bring the "A" game today.

15. Bad Duckie ...
Bad, bad ... :-)

Seriously, though, I really dislike a lot of Sooner fans, the ones who don't ever bother to go to a game when they aren't winning regularly or who do nothing but bitch and moan when they don't win by like 50, so this season hasn't really disturbed me all that much. I feel bad for the team and for long-time, real fans, but they can handle it.

I know a guy who spent $800 on a pair of tickets for the OU-TX game who is like this, said no one in the country could ever beat the Sooners, and I really hope he enjoys watching them get slaughtered.

Since the second game of the season, every time I see him, I just break down laughing. Never say anything else, just laugh in his face.

He doesn't like me much.

14. I'll probably watch but I ain't looking forward to it,
let me tell you. But Sooner born, and all that, what can I say? Wish I could be in the Big D again for the game.

(I think the last one saw was the Tony Dorsett-Joe Washington matchup. It's been awhile.)

20. You're right.
I must be thinking of the postseason. Must have been the actual Cotton Bowl.

I was in the stadium the year somebody threw paint on Bevo. What year was that?

21. Boomer Sooner, Baby!!
Doesn't look good for my Sooners. Had to happen SOME time.

I'm still pleased that the Sooners have dominated for the last five years. This 21st century has been goin' OUR way. I think OU will get it back together to re-establish that dominance...especially with Bob Stoops against Mack Brown (love that matchup!)

Stoops is too good a coach and the school has too much pride to be down for long. I gotta enjoy this while it lasts.

26. I'll predict a Sooner victory.
What the heck, nobody else is!

I think the Sooners still have a psychological edge over the Horns. Stoops has OWNED Mack Brown. If the Sooners can possibly force some mistakes and/or score early, Texas might not respond well because they haven't in the past.

Texas has great talent, and Oklahoma's talent is good, too. Oklahoma's problem has been maturity and experience.

Hope it's a good game. May the best team win!
