Roger Clemens is getting rocked!

But I still want the Braves to lose...I am so confused.

1. Biggest baseball myth number 1.
Roger Clemens is a big game pitcher. That is a lie, every bit of it. The man is 10-7 in the playoffs and could only win with a great Yankee team behind him. Now, I'm not saying he's a great pitcher, though.

Clemens, albeit a good pitcher, is a hack in the post season.

5. Like the whole thing about Buckner. . . sheesh.
If Clemens would have come through back in 86, then that error wouldn't have happened. But, you're a Halos fan right? Or are you a Big Blue fan?

8. You know, Torii Hunter is from Pine Bluff, AR.
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 09:55 PM by cssmall
Sad thing that his contract is going to be too high for the Twins, probably. I wish he would give them a discount, but I don't think he can due to the CBA. I remember going to play the PB team when I was little and he would be on the field. He was poetry in motion.

On edit: this is while we were waiting to play our game. I'm several years younger than Torii.

10. Yes I knew that
I believe we have Torii for at least one more year. He is a really nice guy, on top of being a talented centerfielder.

13. I know. I like the Twins, a lot.
Even though you got us in 1985 and 1991, I think, I still have a soft spot for the Twins because they compete even though they have to really play together to win. Plus, midwest baseball is the best handsdown. I'm so sick with Sox-Yanks, Sox-Yanks.

Cubs-Cards and Twins-White Sox. The fans just want good baseball. Thanks for the chat. I think I love baseball just a little too much. :hide:

22. Happiest day of the year: the day pitchers and catchers report.
I might still be plugging if I just didn't reinjure my shoulder. Fond memories of playing though. I loved every minute that I was on the field.

23. Gotta defer to the current Missoulians on this question.
It has changed a lot since I was there: higher property prices and lower paying jobs: more Hollywood types and gearheads. But a beautiful mountain river valley, smallish but vibrant college town, university with a very good academic tradition (high proportion of Rhodes Scholars, fantastic faculty, at least on the Liberal Arts side of things). Easy access to places like Flathead Lake, Glacier Park, the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Winters can get kind of depressing, but summers are just lazy, incredible blissful days stretched out forever, if you've lucked into having the right friends.

I loved going to school there. Don't know about the horse program, but I assume you heard right.

29. Well, the wife and I live in Fayetteville, AR
we're in the blue bastion of the NW region. Of course, we have Eureka Springs, but it's not big enough. In fact, the town north of us had a preacher who told his congregation to "vote God" whilst standing in front of a picture of GWB. I swear, I wish people would see that for the idol worship that it is.

Not saying they will, but the last time they won was in 1982, I was much too young to remember. I just wanna see them win. They've got the horses to do it.

11. Last year was not a choke. That was destiny.
When I was playing AAU, there was a team from South Carolina that we should have run through because we had some horses. They just whipped us two games in a row. It was not even close. Sometimes things just go the other team's way.

25. Listen you little whippersnapper!
Just kidding. :) Most of us (my age and older) will always remember that as a huge choke. Reality or not. I wasn't old when watching the 82 series but I wasn't in grade school either.
I just hope they will actually go all the way this time.

Hey, at least, we got to see the Red Sox win a series whilst we were alive. Now they can ship them back to the East Coast and stop with all the bullshit hype.

because I wasn't.

But that was a good Series that year, and I saw the Cards win it.

On a black-and-white TV.

By the way, if I ever told you the complete list of extraordinarily stupid things I'd done before you were even born...nah, no need to scare the kids.

That one usually trumps the entries in the "stupid things I've done" discussions.

But I'm old and therefore feeble, and have to go to bed now. I'll look forward to seeing you around, especially if you have a better "stupid shit" story. I do enjoy hearing those.
