Mike Myers on drums in Keith Moon biopic
Los Angeles -- In a piece of casting news that has set the mouths of Hollywod executives watering, Mike Myers has signed up to play the Who's legendary drummer Keith Moon.

The role marks Myers's first on-camera (as opposed to voice-over) role since family hit The Cat in the Hat opened in North America in 2003.

The band's front man Roger Daltrey is producing the project with Spitfire Pictures' Nigel Sinclair, with whom he has spent more than a decade developing the story. AP

1. He is too old
He is already 11 years older than Moon was when he died.

How will they depict the sixteen year old Moon joining the Who?

They will have to use more CGI than Shrek to pull that off.

Otherwise, I think he could do a good job. But I was pulling for Steve Coogan myself. He is a little too old also, but he looks more like Moon and he is an englishman.

Wonder who will be playing the rest of the band? Will Daltrey be able to produce a fair version of the sometimes madness that was The Who?

Bet he tries to get Jude Law or some other drop dead gorgeous guy to play himself. :-)

2. Hoo boy I can just hear my brother now
WHO IS THAT NO TALENT PIECE OF ____ ANYWAY.

See, he is of the "No one on SNL can ever be as close to godlike status as the originals*" and there fore they must suck.

*-never actually watched SNL after the original cast left.

3. The Cat In The Hat has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen
I watched it with the neices not too long ago. It was very bad. Not even the kids liked it.

I do love the "Shrek" movies, however. They are funny, full of jokes for kids and adults, and have a good message about society's shallowness regarding beauty.

4. I think "Cat in the Hat" was obligatory.
Mike Meyes was set to come up with story to adapt his SNL charecter Deter Sprockets to film. He backed out of it and the studio threatened to sue him into oblivion. It was a year or two after that Meyers did "Cat in the Hat". I could see studio execs telling him "Do this movie or get sued.". Eh! What'ya gonna do.
