I want to apologize for ridiculing people who felt strongly about the recent and now extinct rape thread. I could have expressed my feelings without calling people the "PC police."

Please excuse me-- Monday mornings are my least favorite time of the week and I probably injected some of that angst into my reaction.

I believe the thread was a bad choice and not malicious. I well understood the spirit it was presented in. But I have known too many people for whom the pain continues. IMO the thread should have vanished without even the fact that it was over the line as it was clearly a sex thread as well as being inappropriate.

You're right that a subject like this is no laughing matter for most. The fact that I survived it and can laugh about it under some circumstances doesn't mean that it's a fit subject for levity.

with all the copycat threads that seem to spring up in the Lounge - some are quite witty but the "rape" one was over the line. A mistake so easily avoided......
