You know you loved your cat....
when you burst into tears at the supermarket when you see his favorite treat. I thought I was better, but after someone is in your life for 15 years, the healing period is a very long road indeed.

2. I'm so sorry
His favorite treat was mandarins? How cute.

I lost my dog 5 years ago. I still miss her dreadfully. I have her portrait as my computer wallpaper and I find myself stroking it with the mouse sometimes.

Her death is what makes me hope there is a heaven or some sort of afterlife where you see again those you love. I don't really believe it but I WANT to believe it because, more than anyone else, I want to see her.

4. I don't think you ever get over missing them.
The loss just gets easier to live with as time passes. Shit I still miss the dog I grew up with, Nicky, and she died in 1988 at 20.

5. Hey, I can relate...
My beloved 19 yr old cat died in my arms last year. Whew, no soft landing for that one. I was in deep mourning for months, seriously. I was amazed at the depth of feeling I had over her loss. It took a while.

It got easier with time, but the sadness is still there at times.

7. I'm so sorry...
We've got two lovely cats, and although I don't want to face losing either of them, I know I'll have to one day. But at least they've had a wonderful life with us.

My heart goes out to you.

8. I'm grieving over their deaths, and they're still alive!
I think that qualifies for neurotic.

I can't stand to think about your pain. Does this help? I hope it does.

9. Yeah
I still remember how cute Luci was when he was a kitten. I guess that is why I'm trying to adopt this stray who looks something like him. And I adore my cats Lily and Pad Thai but you know, it's like loving a person, you never really get over it, you just accept it when they're gone and move on.

The best thing you can do is love another animal the way you loved the one who passed. That is the legacy you bring.

11. I guess the grief we have is the price of their love.
Their unconditional love is something that just amazes me. How anyone could not love an animal who gives so much is just something that boggles my mind.

I am getting a new siamese kitten in the near future. I just feel like it will be right. The lessons that Frederick taught me will be passed down to another little critter.

Thanks everyone. Some friends of mine think I am crazy about grieving about this, but I am glad to have a place to vent this with other "parents".

13. My thoughts are with you. I have a large malamute(or husky) who will
probably not be here long, and my persian is 11, so I hope she is here for a bit longer.

Sometimes it makes me wonder what life REALLY is about. When someone goes, seems all we have is the memories. I really DO wonder...what's it all about.....

And often I go into..."Is this all there is?"... Whoa, didn't know I was going to get so deep....ah well...

I love it that your cat liked mandarian oranges... what a great personality she must have had.

Mine just likes shrimp and tuna...

Hug for you
