Ten posts from 1000, ask me anything.
Let's see if this will get off the ground. I seem to kill every thread I touch.

8. Sort of. I'm doing some transcription at home to make extra money
for Christmas and my family's birthday season, which is coming up in November. At least I'm working in between wasting time on DU.

16. That's better that spending ALL of your time on DU.

I've been bringing in plants that I hope to keep happy through the winter.

My bedroom just became a jungle! The living room seems to be glowing with a green tinge to everything.

I have 3 Passion Flower Vines > 5 Hibiscus > and several hanging plants.

20. I so admire people who have plants.
I'm a lousy gardener, but that's on my list of things to learn to do.

Cacti and geraniums are about the only thing I don't kill. I have some iris bulbs that I need to deal with. Next weekend!

27. Congratulations ~ you now have over 1,000 post!
My Iris bed is new so I won't be dividing those anytime soon.

I'll add a few more bulbs and perennials to my naturalized landscape right up until the ground freezes.

9. I'm thinking about being a nun or an angel.
It will confuse the people at work who think I'm a witch.

I would cackle, but that's such a cliche!

13. Only baseball when my kids played.
I'm into volkswalking, myself. Don't know if that counts as a sport.

31. It's noncompetitive walking, usually 5K or 10K routes.

There are lots of volkswalking clubs (I guess volkssports is the correct term) that organize the events, but you don't have to be a club member or even pay to participate unless you want to get "credit" for the walk. You can earn award patches if you do the walks for credit.

It's quite fun. I've done a couple of walks with friends and with my kids, and some by myself. I discovered that even though I'm a bit phobic about driving across bridges, walking across a bridge doesn't bother me. It was good preparation for a candlelight peace vigil on Portland's bridges.

edited to add pic: That's me on the far end of the Code Pink banner on the Morrison Bridge.

15. People here seem to be genuinely nice, for the most part.
I also like the weather and the Hawthorne neighborhood, although I live in the suburbs. The only other place I've lived was Pittsburgh, and people on the East Coast seem a lot more formal; or maybe it's just my in-laws.

17. An innie.
I guess my mom "banded" it when I was a baby to ensure it would be an innie. It definitely worked, because it's the inniest innie imaginable.

My mom had too much time on her hands.

24. Thank you!
I have a friend at work who would e-mail me threads, and I would click the Top Ten Conservative Idiots link from Buzzflash. I joined and started posting here the day after the last election, hence the name Blue in Portland. I was pretty depressed that day.

I ran into the front room to tell my husband I hit 1000 posts on DU (and to turn down the stupid car race) and explained the significance. I plan to celebrate with a lime Diet Pepsi and then get back to work.
