Let's fix the financing in baseball and get some damned parity.

Spare me the drama, oh baby jeebus! :nuke:

If there is any mercy left in the universe, the White Sox will spare us from either of these 2 teams making it to the Series. Their fans need a smackdown. I am not much of a White Sox fan, but they are at least not an east coast team.

Pulling for the Pads until they are eliminated.

25. Well, the baseball drama is what I mean.
The Padres? Even if my team wasn't involved in the playoffs, no way could I pull for a mediocre team like that, west coast or not.

26. Yeah, but the Pads are my homies
And the superiority of the west coast in and of itself outranks the mediocrity of the team. I have to be loyal to my birthplace.

All my teams sucked this year, so it is my duty to piss on the parades of the "winners".

And I really want to piss on the whole Yanks/Red Sox mutual jerk-a-thon.

It'll probably be Cardinals/Padres in the first round unless Houston falls apart and the Phillies win the Wild Card.

OK, so they were all Americans of Greek heritage, but still.

So, I'm gravy-training my dad's quasi-hometown team.

43. Although I was born in SD
I grew up a Dodger fan because of indoctrination by my Dad. When he was growing up in the South in the 40's/50's, most kids were either Brooklyn Dodger fans (good) or NY Yankee fans (evil). Occasionally you had Chicago Cubs, or Detroit Tigers fans, because peoples' relatives went up there for work... but in the era before the South had a team of its own in the majors, kids could follow the biggest teams.

He kept with them even after they moved to L.A., and besides, the Padres were still a AAA team when I was born, so it was an easy indoctrination. I like the Pads, but they never fully replaced my childhood faves.

Like you, I prefer NL ball. But yes, a good matchup is a good matchup.

44. Actually, I was sort of a Dodger fan growing up in San Antonio.
For years, the San Antonio Dodgers (later the Missions) were the AA farm team for LA. So, I got to see a lot of Dodgers on their way up. I made sure to get tickets for the Arkansas Travelers series, because they were the Cardinals AA affiliate.

Now San Antonio's team is the AA affiliate for the Mariners.

46. Yeah, that's right!
San Antonio does have the Mariners AA team.

The Mariners AAA team is the Tacoma Rainiers, which sure made following the Mariners in person easy. They were in Calgary (as the Cannons) before the early 90's...

I love minor league ball... I need to hit some games in this region sometime.

Last week, I was a visitor on a cruise ship in L.A. Harbor, and saw a genuine Yankee jersey, with a genuine Derek Jeter autograph, up for auction on board. Luckily, it was protected behind a glass case so that I couldn't damage it.

37. It's my fault!
The Mariners started losing again when I left Seattle mid-season 2003. x(

I grew up an NL fan with the Dodgers, so my Yankee-hating went way back before I lived in Seattle. Seattle is my AL team, no matter where I live or how sucky they are. I loved that they also are Yankee rivals. It made hating the Yanks that much sweeter.

42. Well, come back next season! We need all the help we can get!
Just kiddin'. Next year looks pretty good, given what I'm seeing out of some of the newbies on the team plus Beltre and Sexon.

I love the M's too, regardless of how they're doing. We're going tonight because it's Dan Wilson's last night to play. He's been out most of the year with an injured knee, and then announced his retirement. He's playing the first half of the first inning, and then that's it.

He's the last the of the Boys of '95.
