My ghost is back.
I left my computer alone for a few minutes tonight and returned to have the display resolution all messed up again. No one had touched it--including cats--since my absence. Thanks, Ms/r. Ghosty! Freaky.

1. My ghost is named Harold.
He's been messing with me since 1977! Just a mischevious imp, is he!

2. I haven't named this one.
The only thing I can come up with would be something like, "The Jerk That Messes With My Machine." Why, why would a ghost do that?

10. I have had to occasional impish influence in my life.
And then there was that time last year when a demon started hanging out around my house. That wasn't nice. But we got rid of him quickly.

7. Hey there SeattleGirl
Tacoma boy here...(stop laughin), One of my anthropology professors did fieldwork on her Phd. over in Brunei Malay. She claims that the tribe she studied had this name for mischievous spirits: Hauntu. She claims that Hauntu rarely mean any harm but they can be a bit of a nuisance. They get blamed for just about any bit of bad luck, from toe stubbings to missing items. Periodically members of that tribe wander around banging pots and pans together in order to scare off the Hauntu, apparently they are frightened by loud noises. She says that one morning she got rudely awakened by a guy who walked out of his hut and began firing his shotgun into the air in order to rid himself of a perceived infestation. I suspect the city of Seattle would take a dim view of that method of ghost chasing.

Have you talked to the Police lately? Maybe with their help you could set up a Sting operation....

Good luck!

8. I'm sure.
There's no way that a paw on a keyboard could screw with the display resolution. That's just not something a cat can do.

11. Maybe just one of those
pixies "A fairylike or elfin creature, especially one that is mischievous; a playful sprite."
If you think it's more serious, an exorcism may be needed (just joking here)

23. True, But Blaming Ghosts For Computer Problems Is Hardly "Visionary"...
... it's kind of retro and lazy-think. I guess mankind has always been inclined to blame magic, ghosts, gnomes, etc. to explain away and rationalize ordinary events that which is not easily understood.

<< It takes a real visionary to know the difference. >>

I'd just be happy to occasionally observe some common sense, logic, and rational thought.

:hi:

27. PICNIC.
Also, viruses, malware, adware, games, scripts, hard drive errors, memory leaks, voltage spikes/drops. Not malicious or mischievous "ghosts".

If a ghost can be proved, then the OP is about to be ONE MILLION DOLLARS richer.

I typically don't give ghosts much thought one way or the other. When something goes wrong with my computer I know where to pin the blame.

My kids!

32. Softball question.
My husband of course. :)

Actually, when something goes wrong with the computer it usually is because he started tinkering with it. He's a sucker for gadgets, software, rewiring, etc. It's maddening. I should have married a plumber not a hacker.

18. Mine moves furniture around
The biggest piece is a mahogany buffet weighted down with china and table linens, not to mention the dozen or so picture frames and a two-tiered heavy milk glass fruit bowl sitting on top. It was moved away from it's normal position by about five inches on one side. That's how I noticed it, it was tweaked away from the wall on one side only:)

20. OK, I lived in Hawaii and the Kahunas had a ritual for blessing for
mischievous spirits. I found out also this is also used in Scandinavian and German old culture.

And yes there are real Kahunas in Hawaii.

You need either Kosher Salt or Organic Sea salt, semi large granules.
Spread around the area, maybe the whole apartment, light a candle and ask for a blessing for the spirt from your own spiritual background. Leave for at least 10 min.

Blow out the candle and vacuum up the salt and dispose in a nice place outside.

They used this and other rituals on any building to be built and also when you moved into a different place. Good luck.
