Wow exercise does work!
I started eating better, and going for 45 minute walk a day! I just wieghed myself I lost 3 pounds in two weeks. Screw Atkins, this may be slower but it still works.

1. And I read that AFTER eating a muffin at my desk
Well, at least it was a "fat-free" muffin...

Still have to take my vitamins.

Now, if I just figure out where in my schedule to work in the exercise part, maybe I could get rid of these 25 extra pounds I've been carrying around for the last three years.

Sigh.

2. Good for you (I ran 3 miles this morning)
I tried weighing myself on a scale at work and it showed that I had only lost 12 punds since Memorial Day which can't be right as I am using belt holes 3 sizes smaler.

Anyway keep it up, slow and steady.

3. I bet it's because you're losing fat and building muscle!
Muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space.

I was thinking the same thing but my legs haven't really gained that much muscle just thin out (hips too). I dunno but I feel great.

5. Your legs could still be gaining muscle but losing fat...
thereby looking thinner but weighing more.

Anyway, what's important is that you've lost inches and are feeling great, and that's really what it's all about.

To the newbie exercisers out there, hang in there. It takes more time than you think it will, but the results are worth it, and it gets easier as you go along.

6. You've probably lost more than 12 pounds of fat, but you've also
probably gained quite a bit of muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, thus you lose size before you lose weight.

Consider, twelve pounds on the scale probably means you lost about 20 pounds of fat and gained eight pounds of muscle. :-)

9. I've been running for 20 years
believe me it puts muscle EVERYWHERE. Just be sure and keep your shoes new. I tried to scrimp and wear longer and have had to get my knees scoped 3 times. Learned my lesson.

11. Actually I have been too (except for the last 2 years)
I probably didn't miss more than two days in a row. I just got lazy.

THe longest event I've ever run is a 10K and my times (which I really don't pay attention to) are slow (READ:PEnguin)

I try to write a date about 4 months away when I buy a knew pair shoes but I usually run in them longer than I should.

Asics baby.

30. I like asics and reebok's
. Running everyday also allows me to eat ice cream when I want which is maybe the best reason to run.

7. If you won't to keep it off, it is the only way.
The other thing about exercise is the more you do it, the more you want to do it. It makes you feel so damn good, you sleep great, youlose weight.....

I want to go for a run.

and in September, I realized I had lost 20 pounds by accident. That increased metabolism just burns up the calories.

12. I started walking too..
I gained alot of weight after a car accident a long time ago and never got active again because of the persistent pain in my ankles.

I got fed up one day and made myself go out and walk. I started at about 15 minutes and now I walk about 45-60 minutes a day. If I can't make it one day I really miss it.

My ankle pain is not worse than when I wasn't doing this and some days it's actually better.

I have dropped about 20 pounds too.. I look at it as a long process and something I will need to do as long as I'm alive. Thankfully I enjoy getting outside and doing it.

:-)

13. Stick with it
Funny how sensible common sense can be. I started eating better and exercising more about 2 years ago. One thing I have discovered is that it is very useful to weigh myself very regularly - if I am backsliding and not realizing the scale will always remind me.

Cut everything you eat in half and drink a gallon of water a day. I lost 40 pounds like that.

28. I didn't mean to run 2 1/2 miles this morning (serious runner's high)
New route which turns out was much longer than expected. Getting a runner's high in the city is not easy either, you have to be very aware at every corner.

Wow I am floating.

25. Yep. It's in the constancy!
They say you can create a new habit (like walking after supper every day) in
three weeks. Then the habit does all the work. (The walking's a joy, the work is
remembering and deciding to do it."

29. The medical professionals were right all along
I'm only 5'0" and I had always been a sickenting 96-106 and could eat anything I wanted. Then I hit 41. I don't know WHAT the hell happened but I started gaining weight and fast. (Actually, I do know, my metabolism slowed down.) Anyway, it was 7 months before going on a cruise and I wanted to shed about 30 pounds. I ate mostly fruits and veggies, eating only red meat every 2-3 days. Did the walking/swimming/aerobics thing and started dancing again like 3-4 times a week. In 7 months I lost 20 of those 30 extra pounds. Yes, it's slow but healthy weight loss SHOULD be slow.

Most people don't need special, pre-prepared diets. The medical professionals are right -- eat healthy and get daily exercise. It works!

An addendum: Went off the regimine and managed to gain 40 POUNDS back. Guess what I'm doing these days? ;-)
