So they're all down there in DC, having all the fun, and
adding to their stock of war stories, and leaving us behind.

I wish them all well, I do, and hope that there's some coverage in the news media even though Rita will probably pre-empt it.

You guys in Washington: Give 'em hell for us, would you? We're with you in spirit, even if we can't be in the flesh.

Thank you.

3. I'm hoping that Rita peters out, both for the sake of those in her
path and the Peace March tomorrow!

We are with you guys in spirit, March tall and proud.

Thanks for being there for us, for our nation! :grouphug: :loveya:

16. And you, of all people, should know.
You're a true and an inspirational DUer...having lost so much yourself, you're still stepping up to encourage others.

I salute you.

18. I thank you for your kind words and your support.
My circumstances make me even more sympathetic to the Iraqi people. Our towns were destroyed and our lives shattered, the Iraqis by the shock and awe of the weed's illegal war and me, by the shock and awe of Katrina. I live among the ruins of great cities, cities that I have loved as long as I can remember and I know what it is to want the chance to clean up the rubble and rebuild. Just as I prayed that Rita spared us more devastation, the Iraqis pray that the bombs and the killings stop. Just as the Iraqis are determined to stay and rebuild their beloved homes and towns, I know that I must stay to rebuild my life here on the Coast that I love so much. I am blessed because I know that hurricane season is over in November, the Iraqis have no season, no rest from the violence.

My opposition to the war was strong before the devastation caused by Katrina. My political world has shrunk as my needs are more immediate than they were on August 28th, but my desire for a total withdrawal of the troops has intensified. Just as we here on the Coast long for peace and the chance to rebuild, so too do the citizens of Iraq. In my heart, I am with all Marching tomorrow. Peace is not an option, it is the only option. The Iraqis deserve it, they are entitled to the rest and a chance to rebuild the land they love.

7. Bubbles! Let's boogie in the bubbles!
Oops, I forgot...I don't dance.

But an excellent suggestion anyway, LMN.

You're rapidly becoming one of my favorites here at DU. And the favorite of many others as well, I suspect.

10. You're welcome. I was only telling the truth.
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 10:33 PM by Redstone
And I never lie to anyone. It's just easier that way; if you always tell the truth, you don't have to go through the effort of having to remember which lie you told to which person.

13. Excellent advice,
Especially for those of us who can neither lie with a straight face nor remember where they parked their car. Makes life much simpler, indeed.

5. Hey Redstone, my daughter asked if there was anything I wanted on a sign
for the anti-war rally in Tucson tomorrow. I'll be with her in spirit tomorrow.

Guess it might be quiet around here. MSM will probably not offer much coverage of DC, you're right. They would be all over a hog callin contest if there wasn't weather to report this weekend!

Wishing everyone well for the big noise.

6. It's gotta be tough for you to get to anywhere from where you are,
so I understand that "being there in spirit" is the best you can do.

But I do want to visit your town. I genuinely do; going to out-of-the-way places, where none of theother tourists go, is my idea of a good vacation trip.

Maybe some day. Maybe even next summer; we're thinking seriously about an around-America trip to teach the Little Guy about the country...

12. Oh, my, YES. If he's toast THERE, he's charcoal
everwhere else. That's encouraging news, and I appreciate you providing it.

We do have hope, even if we have not much else, yes?

14. Being there in spirit is well enough,
if you can't be there in body.

At least I'd like to think so, since I can't join the good folks who were able to make ti to DC.

Let's continue to wish them well.

I think there will be coverage in the news...It did get mentioned on the Jim Lehrer newshour tonight, as you probably already know...

And the LA Times had a little story on it today....

Now I'm talking about the protest, not the DU meetup, you know!

Hope you're having a pleasant evening!

Things are good here.....
