The WH will be adorned by a downright moron?
Jeez, take a look at this quote.

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president
represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of
the people. On some great and glorious day the plain
folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at
last and the White House will be adorned by a
downright moron."

H.L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)

1. Hey there, my dear Wetzelbill......
I came across this quote last year, before the election...

It sure as hell did turn out to be true, didn't it?

3. Unfortunately, Mencken was considered to be a crank by the mainstream
So he was never listened to.

7. that's a pretty good pun...
and just because I enjoy quoting H.L. Mencken, here's another one:

"Philosophy consists very largely of one philosopher arguing that all others are jackasses. He usually proves it, and I should add that he also usually proves that he is one himself."

10. Love that one...
I guess that's where 'don't ever argue with an idiot, someone watching may not be able to tell the difference' comes from.

5. Mencken quotes are a treasure trove of cynical wisdom
Here's one of my favorites (appropriate considering the recent ascendance of the "morality" voter):

"Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy."

8. I think that was Ambrose Bierce...
another great misanthrope.

But since you mention it, here's a random 'definition' from it:

"Logic, n. The art of thinking and reasoning in strict accordance with the limitations and incapacities of the human misunderstanding. The basic of logic is the syllogism, consisting of a major and a minor premise and a conclusion--thus:

Major Premise: Sixty men can do a piece of work sixty times as quickly as one man.

Minor Premise: One man can dig a post-hole in sixty seconds; therefore

Conclusion: Sixty men can dig a post-hole in one second.

This may be called the syllogism arithmetical, in which, by combining logic and mathematics, we obtain a double certainty and are twice blessed."

9. Thanks for the correction.
The two are very similar.
And I've been having brain farts lately.
