I really miss "Northern Exposure"
Dr. Joel Fleischman: I'm very happy with myself. I have no need to go slumming in your persona.

13. Here are some great "Chrisisms"
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 09:38 PM by Cyndee_Lou_Who
Chris Stevens: There's a dark side to each and every human soul. We wish we were Obi-Wan Kenobi, and for the most part we are, but there's a little Darth Vader in all of us. Thing is, this ain't no either-or proposition. We're talking about dialectics, the good and the bad merging into us. You can run but you can't hide. My experience? Face the darkness. Stare it down. Own it. As brother Nietzsche said, being human is a complicated gig. So give that ol' dark night of the soul a hug. Howl the eternal yes!

Chris Stevens: Be open to your dreams, people. Embrace that distant shore. Because our mortal journey is over all too soon.

Chris Stevens: We all carry around so much pain in our hearts. Love and pain and beauty. They all seem to go together like one little tidy confusing package. It's a messy business, life. It's hard to figure - full of surprises. Some good. Some bad.

14. A friend is a dj.
She interviewed him years ago. Says he is quite sexy in person-almost swoon sexy! And the first question was not about the movie he was promoting but about Northern Exposure.

28. oh I had such a thing for Chris!
the character was so poetic and naturalistic. But I also thought Ed was pretty cool, sort of like which Beatle do you like.

I really miss that show.

4. For some strange reason,
I always liked Ed the best. Maybe it was that strange combination of innocence and spirituality.

5. Andy Stephenson took me to Roslyn WA....
It was a lot farther than he thought...and I had no clue. But we persevered and made it there. Had lunch at The Brick. Nothing like the set on the program but a great bar with excellent burgers. Seeing the town was lots of fun. It is a wonderful memory of good times with a good friend.

15. I went to college down the road from Roslyn
I remember the outcry when they added an apostrophe to "Roslyn Cafe" to make it seem like a "Roslyn" ran it, lol. But after the show ended, they restored it to form. It was a big boon to that town. We have a DUer who lives there now.

Had my college graduation lunch with family and friends there - also used to be a place called Village Pizza, don't know if it ever came back after burning down - but they had some of the very best pizza I ever had. Roslyn is a bit of a time warp.

20. The main street is
And the surrounding mountains, to be sure. But outside of the main street, it is a normal small town - suburban houses and the like.

Very close to I-90, about 75 miles east of Seattle if you ever head that way.

26. I haven't heard 206er in awhile, actually.
Probably because there's more 206ers here than US! lol

I heard it a LOT when I first moved here. I squeaked in under the radar - since I'm a Michigander and not a "206er" or Californian they left me alone! *whew*
