Mikey had to kill A LOT of enemies to maintain his empire. That was the business model of the Mafia. And in the end, it was a tragic one. Why? TOO MANY BODIES. But that's the way the Mob did business. Remember what someone said to Michael in, I believe, Godfather II: "You can't kill everyone." I think it was Tom Hayden who said this. I may be wrong. And Michael said, "I don't want to kill everyone. Just my enemies."

This idea is worth thinking about now, IMHO.

In fact, my 2 weeks in italy last summer were amongst the most hostile and unpleasant of any in my life ever.
