Anyone hear from Mel Gibson lately?
Anyone know if he's done anything in way of donations or words of support and comfort?

I apologize profusely and profoundly if he's donated a zillion dollars and I've missed it. I just thought maybe a guy who made 3 billion dollars filming Christ's death could maybe do a little something that resembles his life. And again, if he's done so, then, go Mel! my bad.

6. Saw him on a tabloid cover in the grocery store
He's grown a big beard - trying out for Moses, I reckon. I think the subject was porked out celebs.

Sometime recently, there was a thread about his latest directorial flick about Mayans. He'd better go back to Mad Max.

7. well I just heard something SHOCKING from a nurse in my hood
He funds an entire hospital in Guatamala that gets doctors from the 1st world to go down there and repair kids who are born deformed due to poor nutrition. And who have been injured, whose lungs are impair and scarred due to TB.
She volunteers there a couple of weeks each year. They lose a few kids each visit due to infection and general lack of vitality due to malnourishment.
He also funded the transport and op for the conjoined Guatemalan twins a few years back. That's what she told me.

who knew? I guess there's a little good in everyone.

8. He did all his "good" works
by injecting himself into the Schiavo incident and working against the California initiative to fund embryonic stem cell research.

9. That's because he's a mega Catholic
I don't agree with those actions at all. Pretending to be part of the Schiavo concern when he wasn't, and objecting to sound scientific study that holds the potential for all sorts of good because of his religion are heinous acts IMHO.

But he's helping people that may not otherwise get any in Guatemala.

11. I'm very suspicious of the "charity" work of Gibson, Robertson and
people like them. I very much doubt they are willing to give aid without those recieving aid from them committing themselves to Jesus. That is not true charity or compassion that is blackmail.

10. Mel Gibbon and making $25 mil from his perception of the New Testament?!
Nope.

Was it only $25 mil, though? That seems rather small a profit for such a popular movie...
