opinion: where has hubby gone wrong w/Betsy if at all...
Betsy is my dearest friend in the theater world, she is such a bright spirit, so creative & talented & has received her masters degree while in NYC, traveled the country playing collegiate level tennis in that process & remains bi-coastal plying her genius craft-work specific to broadway & music theater costuming, again, she is a brilliant genius at what she does. Even still...

Her life partner, whom she has been with for the last 12yrs, works for the California as a computer programmer, and is due to retire out from that position after 20yrs at the age of 42. Betsy says that she does not go, of late, one month; without her partner haranguing her about "getting a real job!!" Which, neither hubby, or i, feel is correct, in that we both see just how hard Betsy works at what she does while receiving both good money & accolades from all around the country. So...

Betsy has a mild heart attack as a resultant of a congenial condition she has known about all her life & hubby & i put together her hospital stay in that her 'life partner' could not see her way out of work early to do so sighting some state procedure or other which is lame because California adheres to FMLA statutes as required by Federal law, hm. But then...

Betsy's life partner has some seminar or other that she is said to attend in Boston this September next & mentions in that process & in response to Betsy asking if she could come along, that she IS NOT TO DO SO under any circumstance; all flat & without any nuance whatsoever.

So Betsy, who just loves hubby to pieces buying him boxers & making him stuffed peppers which is something she does not have to do in that she is a vegetarian; but she asks me to ask him what he thinks about her life partner & what he might feel she could do to feel less creepy & inferior. Hubby is a Cancer/Leo, and so, he has a 'no play zone' & it pivots atop his keeping his friends happy & whole. So...

He suggests to Betsy that she take a trip to Boston in either case, along with his digicam, which he will time-stamp for her, have fun, treat herself, make a new friend, take a bunch of pictures, and display them on their refrigerator with a new batch of refrigerator magnets from Boston.

I then get with my friend, Robin, in New Hampshire, & we set Betsy up with a host of pre-comp't (if that's a word) hotel stuff, food stuff, and entertainment...she has frequent flyer miles and so has grabbed up the air fare no worries. I've seen online that her tickets & comps are all in place for her & she is happy about her trip. And we are happy for her. Betsy asked what she could do for hubby while there & he has said,

"just bring me back a t-shirt that says, 'my lesbian wife cheated on her lesbian life partner right under her nose while in Boston & all i got was this lousy t-shirt!!'"

For Bostonian's, is: http://www.selectrestaurants.com/tophub a nice place to hang for a while, cause we want Betsy to be happy :D

Now, where has hubby, or for that matter, I; gone wrong

1. The only person in the wrong here is Betsy's
erstwhile "partner" who can't seem to care for Betsy when she really needs it.

3. playing devil's advocate....
hubby mentioned in passing that, as a 'state worker', her partner may feel some pressure to keep Betsy under wraps which makes little sense either in that this is California, 2005...we think she plans to 'party' without her & that makes us sad  therefore thank you for your thoughts here :hi:
