Katrina is just ordinary, although heavy, rain clouds over the far North Atlantic now. Temperature difference between the water and atmosphere is less striking, so it dies a quiet death.

What I would focus on is that semi-spiral just west of Africa, and that embryo over the western part of the continent. Nothing may come of it, but no doubt meteorologists and hurricane experts are monitoring with intense scrutiny.
