question for women or dressmakers
When you're measuring the bust, is the subject supposed to wear a bra?

2. Why blush, dear?
No shame in having breasts :-) I remember being measured with and without my bra/girdle/all-in-one thing at the same fitting when I was getting measured for my sister's wedding.

16. Bathing suit, eh.... ?
Gee, I'd wear a bra to teh fitting and then buy one of those suits with the bar built in. Do they make them anymore? I haven't bought a bathing suit on over 10 years.

18. I want that button!
There must be a word for that moment in time when you hear your parent's language coming out of your mouth while scolding your kid/sending something back at a restaurant/asking the butcher why s/he overcharged you, etc, etc...

19. Isn't it beautiful?
I don't have kids, and I'm nearly ten years older than my mother was when she died, but I can see her in myself and it freaks me out.

I HAVE done a "mom" when telling one of the cats to get down or stop scratching the carpet:

"TO-PE-RI-CHA-SKITTLES! STOP!" (That's Toby, Petey, Richard, and Charley...)

4. Yes !
That way the breasts are kept higher on the chest. I suppose if you're really young and small-chested, it doesn't matter.

7. it's a good idea, if the subject will be wearing a bra under the
garment being made.

8. I'd do this -
measure it to fit what you're making - if the person plans on wearing a bra once the garment is finished, measure with the bra on and vice versa. :hi:

9. And when having a fitting for a particular dress,
wear the bra you intend to wear with the dress. Different bras will give some women different dimensions. Always fit with the one you are gonna wear with the dress.

can you have a bathing suit fitter measure you? you are bound to get a more accurate fit.

here's a link on how to measure your bits and pieces!
