Holy crap. Went to the Mall to walk in the AC....
Okay Okay, enough with the old man jokes.....

My god, what have we become. I haven't been in a mall for years and this is a big one, one lap equals a mile, so I start looking at everything they had for sale...

And I gotta tell, they got nothin' It's just a mess of nothin'...

Good god, out society is getting to the edge of no return....

Blank eyed kiddies rushing around to buy something, anything just to get the consumer rush....

And the Jeans.....

At least seventy different styles and shades of fade.....

And stuff you use to see at the County Fair....

I was expecting to come across a geek show, a pin cushion boy or something....

And no one was smiling....

Oh the Horror, the Horror.....

It's cheaper than a horror movie.

I was a mall teen in the mid 70's AND I dressed like a slut, but my god - I waited for my kids to get out of a movie in the middle of a mall a few months ago and felt like some kind of uptight shrew! Freak show? More like PEEP show!

Much more modest. (I think ... been a while since I've seen one of those either)

14. LOL, Kali.
Oh no, then the teens at your mall are practically naked...:wow:

By stripper chic, I meant the trend of young girls wanting to wear thongs, that show on their hips while wearing jeans. And the stripper shoes some of the girls seem fond of wearing, and a whole lot of makeup...

:scary:

15. yep, lots of underwear
or at least strings of underwear and bulging flesh all over the place. Little PRE-pubescent hookers too. Why do 6 and 7 year olds need makeup? I mean to play sure, but to go shopping with their moms?

17. Eeeuww! Gross! Why are the moms' giving in and allowing this?
I wasn't allowed makeup until I was 16, and even then it was only a little lipstick or gloss and LIGHT liner and/or mascara--nothing too heavy.

37. Who's talking about fashion?
I was referring to larger people who decide to reveal their gut. If that sort of thing pleases you, that's your business.

I just don't think everyone can pull off every type of fashion. I myself am not exactly a male model, so you won't be seeing me wearing a muscle shirt (although I wouldn't even if I had the goods). :)

21. hate the mall
Everytime I go to the mall, I feel so out of place. When I go to the mall, I just get in and out as fast as I can. I wear my scruffy tshirt, scruffy jeans, and well worn sneakers and unshaven face. And everyone there seems so better dressed than me. Not that anyone wears suits and ties to the mall, but they wear something resembling the latest fashions and everyone is so well groomed. It's like people go out of their way to dress up just top go to the mall.

Hey, people. Its just a bunch of overpriced stores. You dont have to put on an impression.

And when I go inside a store to actually buy something (I never go to a mall to just walk around. I go to buy something, because I need to not because I want to, or I dont go at all), thanks to my scruffy looks, I'm the one that store security follows around. I notice them out of the corner of my eye. Sometimes they'll stand a short distance away from me. Following me around as I look for what I want. Other times they're right on top of me, pretending to be another customer. This happened to me at the bookstore at the mall. As I was browsing from book to book, I couldnt help but notice the tall behemoth standing righr beside me, pretending to have his nose buried in a book. Only I noticed that, while I had gone through book after book, he hadnt turned the pages of the book he held. Just kept pretending to be reading that book. Real subtle there.

23. I was walking at the mall for exercise for a while
But I gave up on that and joined a club. The mall was boring and annoying. I couldn't stand the vultures at the kiosks in the center for one--they see people coming and they pounce as if on carrion. "Buy our overpriced crap!!!" And they don't know the meaning of the word "No", no matter how emphatically it is stated. :eyes: The guy at the nail-care hut in particular was horrible, and gave me the urge to mace him sometimes (just kidding...sort of).

Then there's dodging all of the nitwits: the ones who walk at .0003mph in groups of 4 so one has to find a way around them; those who come to a dead halt with no warning causing one to have to suddenly veer to one side or another to avoid a collision; the ones who come bombing out of a store or cross ways without looking; etc. etc.

There are all the characters that make things interesting though. A few weeks ago I saw a man with two women who were either "ladies of the evening" or were doing an amazing job of playing the part. One was wearing minute shorts and a sequined string-bikini top. The other was wearing a satin top that covered her only in front and tied on with strings in back. She had on jeans that were basically painted on. Each had on stilleto heels, excessive makeup and blood-red fingernails well over two inches long. The guy with them (a pimp?) was missing one of them about 30 minutes later. Perhaps he'd found a john???

Ah yes, the suburbs can't stop wanting the "urban" chic they left behind....

That is the first time I have been in a mall in about three or four years....

I usually walk at the track by our rec center but it was just too damn hot today....

28. Funny!
I always feel really strange when I have to go in one and I try to avoid it even more than avoiding wally world. The air is fake, the light is fake, most of the plants are fake and I can't tell what direction I'm traveling or where the sun is...

It always feels like the Dawn of the Dead in a mall to me.
