Emergency! Is this appropriate for a job interview?
I am at my temp job, and normally, I would wear one of my suits to an interview. I am at work now, and I was called just now by someone who wants to interview me for another job TODAY. The problem is, I am unable to go home to change and make the interview unless I take off early.

Right now, I am wearing a black shift dress, in summer wool, with very small cap sleeves. It looks very much like this dress that Mrs. Kennedy is wearing below:

It falls below my knee, and it has a tiny bit more sleeve than the one pictured. I am wearing black pumps and a pretty bracelet.

So....Since the place where I am interviewing is a pretty casual place, from what it seems, would it be appropriate to show up in this? I would normally wear a suit, but this came up so suddenly! At least I am not wearing jeans and a "Lick Me" tank top. (And yes, I have worked for HR with companies where prospective employees show up like that)

2. While its not "the best" it is fine. Your attitude of professionalism
will carry it off. Good luck! :) Best, Ida

5. Well, if it is good enough for Jackie O
It should be good enough for your potential employer. And congratulations on having delightful taste. It sounds like a darling outfit.

13. Or run out to the mall and grab a nice sweater--whichever's
most convenient. An ASAP Friday interview means they'r ein ahurry to hire, usually-- so if you must, wear the dress (pantyhose, please!) and TELL them it's CASUAL day at your current assignment.

7. It think it is appropriate.
A little more sleeve is fine. A little less sleeve would be inappropriate.

I have worked as an employment counselor and am now an employment screener, and I would not have any hesitancy about a dress like that, unless you were applying for something in a very corporate atmosphere, like mid to upper corporate management.

10. Since they called you at the last minute...
I would tend to think that they'd make some allowances, especially since you aren't -too- under-dressed.

Unless it is upper end management, and they want to see how you can react to last minute events...

Then again, what do I know; I wear desert BDUs to work at the moment..

11. It isn't upper management...
It is actually an administrative assistant position at a travel company.

12. It's appropriate
When I worked in HR and had to, well, hire people I was more concerned with attitude than clothing.

Your dress is fine. But if you wanna run home and put on some jeans and a "Lick Me" tank top... I won't complain :)

Khash.
