3. Never heard of Haralson.
There are a couple breeds I'm growing fond of but their names escape me at the moment.

4. Haralson's are a slightly tart apple that is best near the first frost
It is both a good eating apple and a fabulous baking apple. They are mostly green with patches of red. Not mealy at all and crisp in texture.

9. I've not seen them in stores.
But maybe I haven't been looking close enough. We usually get the Red and Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Jonathon, Winesap and a few others.

They are common in mid-September here in the Twin Cities.

12. From a quick looksy around the internets, I see they appear in most Apple
growing regions.

I grew up in Washington State...apples, go figure...but, we get them seasonal in So Cal....
They start showing up pretty soon: Sept or Oct.

Ask your produce person...maybe they are called something else where you live,
Insist on a firm and crunchy Pippin.....this is not a soft mushy apple.
