32. One time a long time ago
I was with my girlfriend and she asked me to 'go down this aisle and get me some lady things'. I looked at her evil grin and knew that the challenge was on. I squared my shoulders and marched down to that section. Then I held up various products and called loudly to her; "This one?...or this one? She scurried towards me waving her hands to shut me up.

Also, it lets the female cashiers know you're taken, so they stop pestering you to go out with them...

9. my wife used to hand her bag to me
not when bra shopping, but anytime she went shopping and wanted to go through a rack of clothes.

I told her that it's not American custom for men to hold the bag while their wife shops. I guess it's common where she is from....

Not that it's a big deal to me, but it does look odd when there are 3-4 other guys standing around waiting for their wife or g/f and I'm the only one holding a purse.

10. you know
as soon as you ladies go into the dressing room, all the guys holding their ladies purses all go through them and barter and trade the interesting things they find inside...

hell sometimes we trade the whole bag with the guy next to us.

you knew that, right? or am i giving us away?

ive always been surprised how much can fit in a small bag as long as it holds the label of a purse. its like a interdementional hole, endless space inside of that small pouch of leather.

19. Other.
I usually wait on a bench in the mall, dutifully guarding any purchases, purses, etc. that have been left in my charge. My S.O. realized my disdain for shopping at an early stage in our relationship, so she does her thing while I wait patiently. It works out better that way. :)

28. I can't think of a time...
when I've ever done a girlie shopping expedition with reprehensor. That would be unconfortable for him.

And the last few years I've become a shopping commando too. I see all the crass commercialism and idiots at the mall, and I really feel nauseous. Can't wait to get out of there.

But bless his heart, he knew I needed new bras, so went into a Victoria's Secret By HIMSELF and got me a gift card for my birthday. I spent it this weekend without him. Dropped him off at the book store, then came and retrieved him.

That way, we're both happy.

AND he's done the girlie products thing, and done just fine. I tell him the brand and the color of the stripe on the box to buy and he does OK. :D

Years of dating taught me many things. Not the least of which was....don't make em go lingerie shopping, and DON'T make em buy girlie stuff unless you're desperate!

He knows he's got it good. ;-)

But so do I. Not every guy on the street would help you shoot drugs into your ass every couple of days. :D

29. By hiding it somewhere.
As in, if a woman asks me to hold her purse, I say, "Okay." I then put the purse somewhere in the store and make a game for the woman as she freaks out and tries to find it. This usually ends up with me breaking up with the woman, but for those who take it in good stride and laugh about it and/or learn to never again give me their purse, it's worth the trouble.

she has a wallet she keeps in her backpack, or just puts in her pocket or carries into a store.

I however, have a giant man purse that my laptop goes into...

We're the odd couple...

Oh and I help her pick out bras too. You should see some of the looks I get when we shop for clothes together for her. I'm all over the racks.

40. My wife likes to ask my opinion on everything she buys
prolly because I'm very opinionated. I finally got her to mostly stop wearing boring undergarments, which I really appreciate, and I feel I've made my tastes very well known, but whenever we're in Victora's Secret she still has to ask about everything "Well, what do you think about this one?" to which I have to admit I usually get embarassed.

/sigh

Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 11:45 AM by skygazer
He's one of those men who gets hit on by guys all the time - he considers it a compliment and just enjoys getting hit on no matter who it is who's doing it (he's actually had guys wave him over to the side of the road to ask for his phone number - I've never gotten any attention like that, even driving around topless!). He also has a fun sense of humor and likes being a 6 foot man with broad shoulders holding a purse.

52. never had to do that while she was bra shopping

clothes shopping, yes, but undergarments I don't think I've ever been shopping with her when she's bought them (and its been 25 years). When I do hang onto it, I usually just search around inside to see if I can find the hidden switch for the inter-dimensional portal. Either that or complain (loudly) that we have to go buy me some shoes to match now.

Occasionally I've had to purchase "feminine hygiene" products, but that doesn't bother me, it's not like everyone around me is wondering what they're for.
