7. actually I can't really pick a favorite...i like twin peaks lots too...
and Eraserhead is a classic although I have only seen that one once.

5. Blue Velvet (1986)
Having been a student of film I voted for Eraserhead (1977) as well. Being more nuanced than throwing buckets of Gak, latex & cranberry juice on the lens; developing nausea as a 'spatial color' is harder than it may appear.

8. Mulholland Dr. for me
I am a fan of most of his work, but Mulholland Dr. is the film he was born to make. All of his talents came together to produce a genuine masterpiece.
