Hoosier Favorite TV Detective? Rockford? Columbo? MacMillan? Wife? Or.....
... anyone else I neglected to mention?

Personally I've always been partial to Mannix (1st) then Rockford (2nd).

4. I'll admit that Rockford had a better opening theme than Mannix...
... but Mannix was just too cool. And oh-so-hip!

He left Barnaby Jones in the dust when it came to coolness. (So long Buddy Ebsen... April 2, 1908 -- July 6, 2003)

8. Anyone remember a show called "Vegas" with Dan Tanner?
I seem to recall a show called Vegas with a detective (or maybe PI) called Dan Tanner....IIRC I had a toy model of his car, a red convertible old-school Cadillac (or similar).

However, I was really young when it was on, and I saw it in the UK - memory could be fuzzy, but does anyone else remember it?

i could never stand to watch t.v. detective shows, or cop shows.
back in b.c., before cable, i watched damn near anything, but there were only 5 channels then. i'd watch my little margie if nothing else was on, but mannix? mcmillan and wife? gag me with a maggot

Although OK, it was an English series.

I've not heard of Dagleish.

16. Yep, Poirot was Belgian!
I almost said that... but you're right, it's an English series.

Dagleish is the detective in a series based on the mysteries of P.D. James. They're thoughtful and intelligent.

20. Jim Rockford, easy
I remember it vaguely as a kid, but I saw every episode via reruns on A&E while in college.

Columbo comes in second.

24. Rockford has had more concussions than Gerry Cooney
Of the hundred or so Rockford Files episodes I've watched, I'd day at least 75% of them feature Jim getting clocked in the back of the head with a blunt object at LEAST once, usually with a blackjack.

28. Lots of good ones, especially Rockford and Columbo, but
I think I'd have to go with "Magnum PI." And it came along at just the right time and place for me.

"Oh my god, Magnum!"

The '80s had some good stuff, among the dross. It's not like it exactly got any better, anyway......

You simply will not see better hair on tv.

Robbie Coltrane as Cracker would be my second pick, though technically he's a psychologist.
