Bankruptcy signals end to low-carb diet mania.

"It turns out the skeptics were right -- low-carb diets were a fad.

The company that spawned the once wildly popular Atkins Diet has filed for bankruptcy protection in a New York courtroom. Atkins Nutritionals Inc. had been losing money hand-over-fist after dieters lost their appetite for its products.

It's a long way from the glory days, when a book by Dr. Robert Atkins spent 400 weeks on the bestseller lists and frustrated dieters everywhere were lured by the promise of losing weight while eating meat, butter and other typically verboten foods."

2. The diet itself isn't a fad! Many of us are making it a way of life!
It is a very healthy way of eating. I eat more veggies and protien than ever before. And more fruits. I just eliminate breds and starches and sugar. The only thing going out of style are the low carb frankenfoods that no one really needed anyway!

6. Because as you progress with the Atkins diet you add low glycemic carbs
back in.In fact salads are always included in the beginning stages of the diet.It was never zero carbs! Once you are on maitence you can add bread and potatoes back as well. But you do it carefully and don't pig out! And you ALWAYS eliminate sugar as much as possible.

4. Low carb diets
Someday when they do those specials on VH1 like "I love the 2000's" there will be a little segment on low carb diets.

7. OMG -- a few years ago half the people I work with were on the
freakin' stupid Atkin's diet. They were all talking about how much weight they lost and how they get to eat so many things. The weight losss lasted just a few months and then most of them started packing on weight again.

Good riddance, Atkins!

8. excercise.
seriously. you have to force yourself to do it, but even just a one hour walk a night will help you lose weight.

We need to campaign for more liberals to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Who wants to be stuck in an old folks home full of freepers?
