Fucking Awesome song: Audioslave's "Doesn't Remind me of Anything
I'm so digging this song -it's got such a great groove to it. Didn't realize they played it in their Live8 set (have to confess I didn't know much about the band until about 2 weeks ago).

Any other Audioslave fans out there?

2. Of course.
As a Soundgarden fan, it's as close as we're gonna get.

It's not like Chris Cornell left Soundgarden and started a reggae or salsa or acid jazz band or somethin'...it's original music, not what I'd call a "Soundgarden rip-off," in the same way that Wings wasn't a "Beatles rip-off." Can't rip yourself off, can ya?

I've got both of the Audioslave CDs, couldn't live without 'em.

8. He's the only "Grunge Vocalist Of Merit" to have survived and moved on.

Kurt Cobain?

GONE.

Alice In Chains' Layne Staley?

GONE.

Chris Cornell?

A living, healthy, talented kick-ass motherf**ker in 2005.

HELLO CLEVELAND!

...and before I get FLAMED by FOO FIGHTERS fans, yes...Dave Grohl is still rockin' admirably in the free world...but he WAS NOT the "lead vocalist" of Nirvana. Foo Fighters are a NEW THANG, y'all...

9. What about Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam is still pretty important

10. I knew I missed someone...
...but I also have to admit that Pearl Jam lost me when they issued about 200 gazillion "plain brown paper wrapper legal bootleg" CDs...

...and I'd be lying if I said that anything they've done recently...really, REALLY "recently"...caught my attention.

But yes, I agree, Eddie is a survivor, Eddie is still standing, and so I SALUTE Eddie.

11. I liked those bootlegs
I saw Pearl Jam in concert once and then I bought the "Bootleg" CD of it. It was a nice way to remember the concert (which btw, rocked!)

I think Pearl Jam is in a slow period but they're overdue to hit it really big again. But yeah, right now Cornell is kicking his butt!

4. They are really being pushed now by Sony. They were specifically
mentioned in the Sony Payola lawsuit the other day.

6. That's sad
I think they'd be popular w/o the payola.

7. Popular isn't enough. They need to be Super Uber popular. Here's the quote
"Audioslave was linked to the scandal in a series of dispatches that showed VPs would do virtually anything to get an add at stations in large markets. "What do I have to do to get Audioslave on WKSS this week?" one missive read. "Whatever you can dream up, I can make it happen."
