Bush's prostate screening test registered at 0.5.

Other information from Bush's checkup included:

- His body fat percentage fell to 15.79 from 18.25. It was 14.5 percent at his physical in August 2003.

- His ability to see at a distance was 20/20 in both eyes. He uses reading glasses at times to see more clearly up-close.

- A prostate screening test registered at 0.5. A desirable level is anything under 4.

- Bush suffers from occasional reflux of stomach acid after drinking coffee or eating peppermint, two items that doctors recommended he reduce or eliminate from his diet.

- His exercise regimen includes pedaling his mountain bike at up to 18 miles an hour for 15 miles to 20 miles a week; doing low-impact "hill work" on a treadmill; and free weight resistance training and stretching.

- He smokes a cigar now and then, takes a daily multivitamin, low-dose aspirin, Omega 3 fatty acids linked to lower heart disease and glucosamine/chondroitin to ease stiffness in his joints.

1. The prostrate test is the PSA. Now considered about worthless.

Prostate Specific Antigen, I think.
I used to get them, but now recent research shows so many false positives that it's basically useless.
Good to see his doc is right on top of the latest medical developments.

16. Don't sell the PSA test too short. It detected my PCa early...
And saved my life, or at the very least, an extraordinary painful and medically complicated rest-of-my-shortened-life. I was treated in my mid-40s, so there was a chance that my cancer was more agressive than most. The test was useful not only because it showed an elevation, but also over time, a *velocity* -- a steadily rising PSA, having established a baseline.

But you're right, elevated PSAs can indicate many things, most of them *not* cancer. It's far from perfect, but analyzed properly by a good urologist, it's a useful tool.

3. Especially that 'new freedom initiative' nonsense wants us all tested.

7. Well hell he has the time to stay fit.
It's hard work being a patsy. He just says what he is told and then goes back to working out. I'd like to see Rummy's, Cheney's and Hastert's medical records. Somthing tells me that those records wouldn't be so good.

14. Acid reflux AFTER eating peppermint??
Now that's weird. I've found that nothing works better to calm down acid reflux than 2 or 3 Altoids.

18. So we're basically talking a gym rat
I'd feel much better if there was a secure phone hooked to his treadmill and his Nautilus machine...you know, so there'd be at least the fantasy that he does something besides work out and play video games all day long.
