"The Shore" is a Philly regional area thing. When we would go to Ocean City Maryland it was always "The Beach" but if was to anywhere in New Jersey it was always "The Shore"

"Shore" is used in a lot of places. I hear it here in Washington state. People don't usually say beach.
I also used to hear it for the Jersey Shore.
