Pity Party Part Deux. Post here why you need pity.
Me, I have a slight migraine, which is going to turn into a monster migraine if I don't stop drinking. Post here why you need pity and we'll all commiserate.

41. ah bujo!
i really only remember him because of his name. i was doing exile in texas (altho my son is BOI ;-) ) bujo waddell was just such a fun texas name for a yankee like me!

plus he was on the galveston dem steering committee or something. he was definitely involved in the dem party. that was how i knew him before i took a class with him. and yes, it was a government class of some sort.

47. He's one of the few teachers I remembered...
I went there in the early 1970s. I Googled Mr. Waddel's name and he's still active in politics. He's chairing an Election Equipment Task Force now. I have no idea if he's still teaching. It's interesting running into someone who knew him too. :)

49. indeed it is!
i was in galveston for a few (8 long) years in the 80s. most of the texas population at that time was probably exiles from michigan ;-)

i'm glad to hear that bujo is still active and bucking things in texas! galveston had some great dems when i lived there.

54. is evangeline wharton still around?
she was so fantastic! everything about her pointed repub, but she was a completely rocking dem!

galveston is such a study in contradiction! juneteenth has all it's roots in galveston. and the moody's and more recently george mitchell... personally, i think the island would be a great gambling destination! what else can galveston offer? (answering my own question - el napolita's!)

does the colonel still offer dinner cruises? have any of the captains learned to say "bolivar"?

but escapes me at the moment. I've met one Captain from the paddlewheeler. I'm not certain if it's still in business. Yep, Galveston is quite a historic city.
