2. Love and hate are neither opposites nor mutually exclusive
The opposite of both love AND hate is having no feelings whatsoever toward someone.

7. Hell yes!
I have never seen love turn to hate better than a marrige gone bad! It is absolutly amazing how love and adoration can turn into such contempt.

8. Indeed. They're flip sides of the same coin.
Intense emotional response in the positive and intense emotional response in the negative.

11. Y'all are nuts.
Just because these concepts are mirror images of each other does not logically mean that you can therefore harbor both feelings towards the same individual.

I still maintain that's a pretty good definition of insanity... or idiocy.

12. It is possible to love someone but
hate certain qualities about them. But hate is the ooposite of love.

15. Actually, I think indifference is the opposite of love.
It has been my experience that when a wronged spouse or SO purports to 'hate' the other spouse or SO, that they are still emotionally entangled. When they profess indifference, they are truly ready to move on.

But if you truly hate someone, then you can't possibly love them, right?

18. I love my husband immensely and would do anything for him.
But he makes lots of noise when he eats, and I get a visceral reaction that is really similar to how I feel when I see * on television. If that isn't hate, I don't know what is.
