Rove got us again
I'm glad the sons are dead, but isn't the timing just soooo convenient? Whenever Bush is in trouble some "event" comes along to bail him out. Of course, the media won't delve into this. I'm about to give up. We'll never get this guy because Rove always has something up his sleeve. Remember, Saddam and Osama are still around so Rove has plenty more where this came from. I was beginning to feel we had a fighting chance in '04 but the WH ability to wriggle out of trouble is frustrating.

1. Old news
The Husseins are yesterday's news. This is good just for a one or two day news cycle. Americans are going to continue to die in Iraq, and it will have nothing to do with Hussein. This will be forgotten as the casualties pile up in the weeks and months ahead.

2. Bush doesn't deserve credit for htis
But he'll get it anyways. Remember the Mission was supposedly accomplished on May 1st. The people who deserve the real credit are the soldiers over there.

3. I Don't Think It Will Be...
I think the impact will not be as great as many feel it might. Why? Because when America wakes up tomorrow and another American soldier or a couple of American soldiers have been killed in an ambush, the public will see that nothing that makes Iraq a quagmire right now has changed.

Saddam, Uday, and Qusay are not involved in the planning and running of the guerilla war. Killing and/or capturing them is great symbolically, but does not prevent the daily problems of we face in Iraq.

9. Assuming they are dead, so what?
If the U.S. has succeeded in killing Saddam's sons, what is the big deal ? We killed Colonel Quadaffi's daughter when Reagan ordered a hit on the Colonel, but I don't recall any change in the political life of either country as a result, other than maybe some people rejoicing in the death of a baby girl, and the pain it must have brought to those who loved her.

As a rationale for the media to divert attention away from the devastating consequences of having Mr. bush in the WH, it makes sense to milk this alleged "victory," I suppose.

We'll probably start hearing all kinds of stories about how evil these two rich, spoiled, slacker sons of a wealthy politician were.

Can't wait. How 'bout you?

14. Because...
Edited on Tue Jul-22-03 04:42 PM by Uzybone
he planned the deaths of a few hundred INNOCENT people in response. That makes him a bastard and and a murderer in my book.

My point is that small "victories" like this can lead to disastrous consequences, not to argue whether or not Ghadaffi is a good man.

12. Sure; Death Becomes Them ~
3,000 people @ the WTC die and Bush's numbers go up; two crap heads die in a fire-fight in Mosul w/200 troops from the 101st Airborne crawling through the shit and doing all the work and his numbers go up; more troops dying on a daily basis in his war than his dad's and his numbers go up. This paticular hublet of Yale/Skull & Bones/Illuminati feels that from chaos comes order. Death is but a form of sideshow. A: Death Becomes Them/crowd pleaser ~

I think I just seen Bob Novak cum down both pant legs on Crossfire  at least that was the look on his face...

13. This is a ho-hum news story
I see it as a failure to capture them, if it's even them.

16. Did anyone here think
That Saddam's sons would allow themselves to be captured by the "infidels?" I felt from the git that, unless they escaped to an unnamed country, both were going to end up colder than yesterday's fried chicken before it was all said and done.

Dumbya may get a little boost from this, but it still will not mute the fact that Americans are still dying at a rate of one a day in Iraq. Until American soldiers stop getting killed and start coming home, Dumbya will be on the negative end of things.
