MatcomNews Update: Man Found Under Outhouse Claims Lost Wedding Ring
Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 10:11 AM by matcom
<snip>

CONWAY — The Maine man police discovered at the bottom of a women's outhouse last month told investigators that he was searching for his wedding ring.

Gary James Moody, 45, of Gardiner, Maine, pleaded innocent yesterday to three charges brought against him following the incident at the restrooms at Lower Falls off the Kancamagus Highway. He will return to the District Court of Northern Carroll County on Sept. 6, where he will stand trial for criminal trespass and two counts of disorderly conduct.

He appeared in court a day earlier than scheduled, with his attorney, David King of Colebrook. He did not speak in or out of the courtroom. Judge Pamela Albee continued bail at $250 personal recognizance and stipulated several bail conditions, including that he stay out of women's restrooms and off U.S. Forest Service property pending his trial on the misdemeanor counts.

According to court papers filed by Carroll County Sheriff's Department Capt. Jon Herbert, officers were called to the Lower Falls by a U.S. Forest Service worker on June 26 after a girl entered the restroom and saw a man in the raw sewage vault "looking up at her."

The arrest affidavit contained six pictures of the restroom facilities, including the toilet, as well as an explanation about the vaults that collect the waste.

"The only access to the vault the public had was through the toilet opening," Hebert wrote.

As officers investigated how a person might gain access to the women's room vault, they discovered that manholes remained locked.

1. If I lost something that valuable to me
I'd call the number on the side of the shitter, and pay the company to run the contents through a filter.

4. I know *why* he was down there
I'm just saying, there's much more logical alternatives to giving yourself in septic chemicals.
