cause me to skep fittfully so they prescribed Ambien.....

Doesn't really work unless you take a mess....

But I am slowly but surely weeding myself from the pills.....

6. Unfortunately Ambien is no good if you have problems staying asleep
It is only good for people who have problems falling asleep. It will keep you asleep for about four hours and then it wears off. (Which makes me wonder why they say to only use it if you can devote a full 8 hours to sleep). I tried Ambien and it didn't "work like a dream"--I only got 3-4 hours off of it at the maximum dose. Sonata did the same.

I tried Trazodone and it was wonderful for sleep at 150mg but it made my migraines go bezerk so I had to discontinue it. (Technically it's an antidepressant but it is very sedating so many doctors use it as a sleep aid since it is non habit forming). I'm going back to the doctor soon to get something else to try.

8. Yep
That's been my experience with Ambien as well. But luckily, my main sleep problem is going to sleep. Heck, I can take Ambien if I want to take a two hour nap and am able to get up and function perfectly well.

Trazadone, on the other hand, was like a hammer to me, lasting well into the next day. But I've heard many say it's great.

11. I take trazadone (Desyrl) to sleep
Every night for the last ten years. Works well and I've never had to up the dose. Too bad about the migraines, I've known at least one person who took it for migraine relief.
