What famous line in the Bad News Bears?
I did not see the original and have no intention of watching the new one with Billy Bob Thornton. I did, however, read his Newsweek Q & A and they are talking about "the famous line is omitted" to which Thornton replies that it was very strange... that it is a joke.

Anyone knows?

15. I thought that was from "Meatballs"
Tripper: And even if we win, if we win, HAH! Even if we play so far above our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days; even if God in Heaven above points his hand at our side of the field; even if every man woman and child joined hands together and prayed for us to win, it just wouldn't matter because all the really good looking girls would still go out with the guys from Mohawk because they've got all the money! It just doesn't matter if we win or if we lose. IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!

Rest of group: IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER! IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER...

Meatballs
The greatest summer camp motivational speech in history. Bill Murray exhorts on his less-then-competant campers: "And even if we win, if we win, HAH! 3. answer
There's a famous line in 1976's ribald Little League comedy The Bad News Bears in which tow-headed tyke Tanner Boyle looks around the dugout and exclaims, "All we got on this team are a buncha Jews, spics, ni--ers, pansies and a booger-eatin' moron!"

If reading that line made you wince -- especially the unfettered use of the N-word -- you're not alone. It's one of the best examples of how things that might have been acceptable in the freewheeling '70s would never fly in the '00s, even for director Richard Linklater's relatively faithful remake.

You have to go to Canada for any decent news.

8. It's funny
HBO has been replaying the BNB for months, and I watched it again long before I knew a remake was coming out. I heard that line and thought, "Wow--if they did this movie these days, it would be censored to death." And lo and behold.

I have no desire to watch a remake of what was essentially a perfect movie.

11. Thank you. This probably is the one
He was saying how "South Park" is a lot worse and then: "It's very funny to me how very liberal people are more politically correct than anybody."

I think that it is not a matter of acceptable but of speaking style. I don't think that anyone would say something like that today, not that I know anything about how coaches speak..
