Gay Songs by Straight Bands
I'm trying to come up with a list of songs done by straight artists or bands which have a gay overtone to them or are indeed gay, Gay, GAY!

So far I've got two that come to mind:

'King for a Day' by: GREEN DAY
'Michael' by: FRANZ FERDINAND

Any others come to mind?...anyone?...anyone?

10. A couple by Steely Dan...
Rikki Don't lose that number:

We hear you're leaving, that's OK
I thought our little wild time had just begun,
I guess you kind of scared yourself, you turn and run
But if you have a change of heart.

Rikki don't lose that number;
You don't wanna call nobody else.
Send it off in a letter to yourself.
Rikki don't lose that number;
It's the only one you own.
You might use it if you feel better,
When you get home.

I have a friend in town, he's heard your name.
We can go out driving on Slow Hand Row
We could stay inside and play games I don't know
And you could have a change of heart.

Any Major Dude:

I never seen you looking so bad my funky one
You tell me that your superfine mind has come undone
Chorus:
Any major dude with half a heart surely will tell you my friend
Any minor world that breaks apart falls together again
When the demon is at your door
In the morning it won’t be there no more
Any major dude will tell you

Have you ever seen a squonk’s tears? well, look at mine
The people on the street have all seen better times

Chorus

I can tell you all I know, the where to go, the what to do
You can try to run but you can’t hide from what’s inside of you

Chorus

11. Green Day is "straight"?
I was wondering about them when I heard them sing and play their hearts out at Live8?

Especially the lyrics to American Idiot..

GREEN DAY LYRICS

"American Idiot"

Don't wanna be an American idiot.
Don't want a nation under the new mania.
And can you hear the sound of hysteria?
The subliminal mind fuck America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For that's enough to argue.

Well maybe I'm the faggot America.
I'm not a part of a redneck agenda.
Now everybody do the propaganda.
And sing along in the age of paranoia.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For that's enough to argue.

Don't wanna be an American idiot.
One nation controlled by the media.
Information age of hysteria.
It's calling out to idiot America.

Welcome to a new kind of tension.
All across the alienation.
Everything isn't meant to be okay.
Television dreams of tomorrow.
We're not the ones who're meant to follow.
For that's enough to argue.

27. "Jailhouse Rock"
Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 01:08 AM by ForrestGump

The whole movie had a few such undertones, and there was even BDSM apparent in the lyrics of "Treat Me Nice" ( like "Jailhouse Rock," written by Lieber and Stoller: "scratch my back and run your pretty fingers through my hair," and "I'll even be your slave, if you ask me to") and here:

:-)

Kinky stuff for 1957.

32. Space is The Place by Spacehog
Song Lyrics

Spacehog
Resident Alien (1995)
Space is the place

Prelude to Space is the Place:
Good afternoon and welcome. Today we celebrate the songs of two of my head parishoners,
Royston and Antony Langdon. In this song, they deal candidly with themes of brotherly love and
homosexuality. Turn now to page number 372, Space is the Place.

SONG

And when you kiss your other lover
Well I will try to understand
And just because you're fucking him
It doesn't mean you don't love me
I do what you want, be what you want to be

CHORUS
Space is the place where I will go when I am all alone and
When nobody calls me on the phone and I am all alone and
I'm meditating in the zone, all alone and
Space is the place where I will go

And just because you kissed your brother
It doesn't mean to say you're gay
'Cause even when you're fucking him
It doesn't mean you don't love me
I do what you want, be what you want to be

CHORUS

Well you should see Polythene Pam
She's so good-looking but she looks like a man
Well you should see her in drag dressed in her polythene bag
Yes you should see Polythene Pam.
Yeah yeah yeah

Get a dose of her in jackboots and kilt
She's killer-diller when she's dressed to the hilt
She's the kind of a girl that makes the "News of the World"
Yes you could say she was attractively built.
Yeah yeah yeah.

53.  "Fear And Loathing In Laramie" by Protest The Hero
I suppose this counts as a gay song...it's a song about gay rights.

Compassion is shit
Soft-spoken words and a look of concern
The fire is lit
Emotion will never extinguish these flames
That inaction has built
What makes it burn?
A nation so straight that deviation’s a crime
When will we learn that sexuality is not a punishable offense?
On a cold October night
A gentle soul was crucified
And what remains of his blood still stains our idle hands
That soft-spoken words won’t justify
Culprits are we
Let’s talk about rights
Let’s talk about sexual orientation
Let’s talk about you and an entire homophobic nation
Will you follow me down?
Can we not separate ourselves from such hate?
Let’s sever the head of the beast with the crown
Let’s no longer participate
Will you follow me down?
Why won’t anyone stand up?

Mick Jagger, a guitar, tons of echo and a young man's adventures in London. The band submitted it to Decca as a contractual obligation. Obviously, the label didn't release it, but bootleg copies are fairly easy to find.

Edited on Sun Jul-17-05 12:58 PM by KG
ooops - missed it up-thread.

Rough Boys Lyrics
Artist: The Who
Album: Empty Glass

Tough boys
Running the streets
Come a little closer
Rough toys
Under the sheets
Nobody knows here
Rough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
I wanna see what I can find
Tough kids
Take a bottle of wine
When your deal is broken
Ten quid
She's so easy to blind
Not a word is spoken
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I'm still pretty blissed here
Tough boys
I'm gonna carry you home
You got pretty pissed dear
Gonna get inside you
Gonna get inside your bitter mind
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I wanna buy your leather
Make noise
Try and talk me away
We can't be seen together
Tough kids
What can I do?
I'm so pale and weedy
Rough fits
In my Hush Puppy shoes
But I'm still pleadin
Tough boys
Running the streets
Come a little closer
Rough toys
Under the sheets
Nobody knows her
Rough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
I wanna see what I can find
