Free Amanda the Opossum................
Does this maybe cross the animal cruelty line?

My neighbors don't like cats and other living creatures on their property. The he-neighbor has been seen in the past shooting pesky squirrels with a pellet gun.

Three months ago they went to Tractor Supply and spent $60 for a professional small animal trap. The she-neighbor told me at the time that nasty cats by the hundreds had been pissing in her immaculate flower beds and the smell was so bad that she was embarrassed to have her friends over.

Personally, couldn't smell any cat piss at the spot in question but issued a memo to my cats to stay out of her yard. A few blasts with the water hose and they learned the property line real quick.

Was curious about the real number of cats congregating in her yard and went to Home Depot and got a two camera CCTV system got 'em covered like a 7-11 now. My new favorite reality series.

They can't seem to catch a cat, because they don't exist on the property, but they catch a lot of opossums who are attracted by the tasty bait.

There's one in the trap right now. The possum was trapped at 10PM Thursday evening. That's about 31 hours now without food or water. And this is in an otherwise nice small town neighborhood.

Nobody home next door now, looks like the neighbors went on vacation and didn't check the trap before they left. Or maybe they did and didn't want to deal with it.

So, should i have few more beers, put on the ninji suit and go bust out the opossum or bypass city animal control and call the game warden and rat on these dill weeds for animal cruelty? According to Texas State laws, that possum is in their possession and they are resposible for adequate food and water.

Free Amanda.

pulled a second attack in daylight, drunken ninja mode.

can't wait for the neighbors to return home and dare to whine.

8. good for you. It is animal cruelty what they dd and I did the same
thing re a skunk caught in my next door neighbor's window well. The baby skunk was there and they went on vacation even though they knew the baby was there. The night they left on vacation we got the skunk out of that window well; it had been there 2-3 days. It went wandering off quickly. Noone should have to put up with neighbor's cruelty to animals. EVER!

7. You rock!
Thanks so much for taking care of Amanda -- I can't believe someone would put out a trap and then leave it like that. If not for you they could have come home to a dead oppossum. Not pretty.

The smell your neighbor may be experiencing in their yard could very well be the oppossums and not cats at all. I have had loads of experience with those critters hanging out in my yard and house. If two of them get together and get in a stink fight it is NASTY smelling -- close to cat urine but just a touch differant.

You might talk to your neighbor about that possibility and how to remedy it.
